Foreign sayings creeping into your daily lives Posted on: 11.09.2012 by Leeanna Ayla We're largely an international community on here and as such I've caught myself saying things that I used to normally never say. Mate for example is something I never said unless I was doing a Crocodile Dundee or Steve Irwin impersonation. Anybody else catch themselves being influenced by our international DJTT members? | |

Dorie Scelzo 06.11.2012 | "Mate" is the biggest one. Basil all of a sudden has a short a sound. Sometimes, I just can't help calling a guy a "right bloody cunt". Though never a girl. Twat (short a). Wanker. Git. Bloody… There are probably others. But I have a friend who lives in London. |

Not really foreign...but the youngsters these days (Oh god...did I just say that?) have their own style now. You know, the shortened text and what nots. I ended up picking up WOOT....which for those who don't know....is a Whistle. I also use EISH a lot, but thats a locally used word by our black brothers. |

Len Lukawski 16.09.2012 | I am also happy to report that I have more Americans using my slang than the other way around. On average it takes me using the word "mate" 3 or 4 times during a 30 minute cab ride to the airport to ensure the taxi driver says "goodbye mate" when he drops me off. |
Rolanda Clodfelder 16.09.2012 |
