i believe mm is a good bourbon, but i prefer maker's 46 (which is probably my favorite overall bourbon). it just has a great flavor, nice balance and it's pretty cheap out here. i will say if you can ever try some pappy van winkle 20 year be sure to go for it. i'm not sure if it will make it's way out there but it's hands down the best bourbon i've ever had. i'm waiting for the next release so i can hopefully get 1 of several bottles that will make it to my area. it's a bit pricey (about $110 in the states) but completely worth it.

i'm more drawn towards the buttery, toffee and caramel profiles in some bourbons and tend to not like the more spicy styles as much. i also really like the four roses small batch i have. it's great in an old fashioned or on the rocks. i tend to drink all my bourbons this way (or maybe as a manhattan) as i don't usually prefer them neat since the flavors (and burn) tend to be very strong. i love how they slowly change as the ice starts to dilute the spirit letting new characteristics come through while others slowly vanish.

That's what it's all about V - a simple blend can hit the spot as much as an 18 year-old single malt. Personally don't get bourbon though.

Hmmm, there's two strange things about this thread:

1) Why haven't I posted in here? It's a thread about liquor after all....
2) Why hasn't Talisker been mentioned yet?

RESURRECTION TIME:

just picked up a bottle of Glen Livet 18 yr. Very excited to crack it open after we exhaust the charms of this Tanqueray 10 gin with fever tree tonic.

I iz indeed drunk.

Balvenie 12
Woodford Reserve
Black Maple Hill (small batch Kentucky sour mash)
Johnnie Walker Black

The Black Maple Hill is my current favorite. But maybe my overall favorite would be Balvenie Portwood 21 yr old. Of course, scotch and bourbon are really two different things so you better have a bottle of each around
