vinyl collection picture thread

Hey all i searched for this type of thing all over the place on djtt before posting but couldn't find it. So let me know if there already is a thread about this and ill remove mine.

Anyways, i love vinyl artwork. Real artwork and looking at other peoples collections. I always thought it gave you an easier way at finding some hidden gems. Plus the artwork is just fun to look at. i used to go to friends houses to look at theirs, or on here. Specifically the "post your latest purchase" thread. That always has some new music on it. but it always has people posting other stuff on there too of course. and i know people have a lot more records than this. Anyways... here is my collection, kinda small right now but looking to get more.

and hey don't forget to post yours

update 20121116

After seeing the way people are using this thread I have rephrased my request to better suit this thread and the people reading it.

Post pictures of your record collection as a whole. But then post pictures of your favorite records that you love to listen to, over and over and over again new or old. Also if you have a collectors item or items, post that too. Post as many of your favorite records as you can.

But don't post a picture of your collection just to say "hey check it out my collection is bigger than yours" and then not post any pictures of your favorite records.

Also if your going to post a favorite record please include in the text as to what the title of the record it is. Just to make finding that hidden gem that much easier
thanks guys

This is my small collection so far. surprisingly still make good use of them in my sets.

This is one of my favs just for the music

Right. You tell people to 'relax' and then call them 'crazy'.

How far from Providence do you live? Analog Underground may be interested.

I got rid of around 1,000 when I bought the house around 15 years ago; lots of late 80's record pool junk I knew I'd never ever play.

I probably should thin the collection out; I could easily get rid of at least 1/4 of it. The problem is getting rid of it (other than just throwing it out or giving it away) is real work. None of the local record shops have any interest in any sort of dance/electronic music.

It ain't "vinyls". You can use that word when talking about different types of vinyl - as in the material itself - but when talking about vinyl records, the plural is still "vinyl" as in "I love vinyl", not "I love vinyls". It's nothing to get upset about though, lol, but it just comes across as n00bish to me when someone says "vinyls" when talking about vinyl.

Well they're wrong too. It's records, they're made of vinyl they aren't called vinyls. I've got decades of collecting under my belt and the only time I've seen it is on the odd internet page that looks like it was made by the uninformed. They have been called records for over a hundred years now. You won't ever find a catalogue from a record company calling them vinyls.

I've got the LP that Rakim track is off by the way. Got a bunch of his releases and they have been on high rotation since they came out. Never fail at a gig.

I have about 125 vinyls mostly 80s hip hop and old disco. That was my latest purchases 3x sealed copies of follow the leader 1989 for $24 total.

My collection won't fit in a single picture, I had to use two. The basement is too dark for iPhone panorama's to come out well. Discogs says 3,391 in collection and probably a little bit more than half of it is in there so somewhere between 5,500 and 6,500 records.

I actually just had two vinyl orders arrive today. Some new old stock catch-up on things from the past few years (except for the Joey Jupiter, that's a rare one):

And new releases from the past 6 weeks or so:

I'm a massive funk fan and couldn't resist this. George Clinton's first 45 from the late 50s. It's doo-wop, so it's hardly gonna work on the dance floor like his 70s funk, but it's still an awesome little 45.

I've got a stack and there's brilliant stuff all over the shop. Sometimes it pays to rock doubles because the strings can get a bit saccharine even when the rhythm is astounding. 'Magic Bird of Fire' by the Salsoul Orchestra is a case in point.

Love the pics, nice to see some good vinyl collections. It is much nicer than perusing a list in an explorer browser!

Not got any pics at the mo, but have about 2000 downstairs in the 'booth' with the other 3-4000 records tucked away in the loft sadly

One of my favourites is the limited to 350 pressings of Cosmos (Tom Middleton) 'Summer In Space', 1 side the full track, the other side looped samples, and it's blue vinyl too!

Speaking of house music, my radio show toevening on NuRave Radio 6-8PM (UK), Deep/Souful House first hour, then some Rave Breaks, topped off with some classic '97 UK Garage. Tune in!

It's a 10" test pressing of "Year Of The Hip-Hop" by L.L. Cool J signed by K-Def, who produced the track. Only 10 numbered copies exist. That's number 3.

I ordered the record from the US. When it arrived, it was in a Royal Mail bag with a notice on it saying that "the item inside has been damaged". I opened it up and it was utterly soaked through with water. I dried it out and thankfully the record label looked fine, but both the inner and outer sleeve were ruined. I contacted the record label and they had another sleeve made up and sent to K-Def to sign, but he signed it "To Barry" when my name is Steve, lol. They then made up a third sleeve and the guy from the label wrote "To Steve" at the top, then K-Def wrote the rest, hence the different handwriting.

Will post a proper pic of my room when it's actually tidy. This was taken a few years ago. The other wall is the same. Will dig out some of my favourite sleeves too. The loft has a few thousand more in but that's even more disorganised.300062_10150330942750382_868872927_n record room.jpg
