What Traktor features do you wish it had?
Posted on: 10.05.2013 by Toya Spor
For me, I imagine it having a much more enhanced controller mapping editor, OSC support, and maybe support for "scripting".

I believe many a person would appreciate a more intuitive way to map their controller to Traktor. Imagine pressing a button on your controller to instantly slice up the song into X parts or change to another mapping, or writing a script to detect parts of a song and place cue points there dynamically.

Anyone else wish Traktor had something it didn't?

I mean the zoomed waveform, not the track stripe. Pretty sure even the Nexuses just do stripe...

I mean the ability to record your actual mixing and edit it, not the ability to record your mixes. This was in Traktor Studio 3 and has been gone since Traktor Scratch Pro. Like Serato's "mixtape" functionality, which is not just about recording the sound.

We'll call it "lazy" button. Think about all the "lazy VS sync" threads.

Zoomed waveform would let Traktor overshadow Rekordbox, and since noone else has bothered to make a controller that can even show the stripe waveform, there's no reason for Pioneer to open up such a key feature.

Dynamic (variable tempo) beatgrids with the ability to manually drag/adjust the beatgrid (and spacing between bars) visually, with a corresponding change in track tempo; this would be particularly useful for tracks like Mauro Picotto - Komodo and Lil Louis - French Kiss.

Aaaaand... HID output of waveforms so we can have LCDs on our controllers.

Shuffle function on playlists, so you can prep the tracks with the fade-in and fade out points, go for a quick pee/smoke and it mixes random songs for you. A DJ I work with has a 15 minute old school mix he plays when he needs to go for a break and the crowd at this point have figured it out haha.

It's got a sync button and a key finder, that should help!

Better iTunes Library integration
Smart Playlists

Otherwise I have nothing to complain about.

My wishlist:

1) Decent library management. The Traktor music library is godawful, and the iTunes integration makes it even more confusing. Something like Serato's library would be awesome and doable.

2) Decent controller manager. Let me select several items and change one part all at once, or delete, or copy and paste, or even navigate with the freaking arrow keys and shift-click.

3) VST support would be really nice - it's probably the only additional "feature" I want to see - I don't care about video, don't need more samplers, remix decks, or any of that stuff. Traktor effects are awesome but it's limiting to not be able to use effects that you can use with other software.

4) Rewire would be awesome and would probably obviate the need for #3.

5) More flexible beatgrids, it's only been the biggest requested thing since 1991 or whatever. If they don't want to give us the ability to have two different bpms, at LEAST let us reset the beatcount when we add a second or third beatmarker. That much is a no-brainer but seems to have been ignored.

6) Triplet on the gater and beatmasher.

7) GUI updates would be nice; specifically the ability to browse the collection on a different monitor, but being able to maximize the waveform for gridding would be cool too as someone posted above

8) bring back the mix recorder... or something like it (kind of like mixtape functionality in "the bridge").

9) Stop needlessly crippling the software - open the remix decks to other controllers and let us use TSP functionality with our DB4s.

10) the biggest and most important change of all... a responsive customer service from NI that doesn't treat users like idiots and actually takes into account feature requests.

Im surprised this thread isn't already ten times longer than it actually is!

1. A copy/paste function in the MIDI mappings, and mass duplication/deletion (i.e. I can ctrl+click then copy a large group of commands).

2. Colours and/or values on the level meters and master meter. I know the master meter has colours already, but I'd like ones you can see BEFORE you hit them.

3. Proper transport controls on the remix decks, so they work more like ordinary decks.

4. And a parallel deck view, of course.

As cool as the concept is for the Bridge i've yet to see any DJ's really take advantage of the features, and so far it seems like support has slipped for the Bridge. I believe the trouble with the Bridge is that the feature is tied to 2 different companies with 2 different agenda's. I'm sure this makes product updates a bit of a hassle cause now you have to work with coordinate with a separate company rather then just having everything in house. If NI decides to do something similar, they're better off creating their own solution rather then tying it to someone else's software (i.e. Ableton)

If you're looking to do clip launching, the remix decks are a suitable replacement, if you're looking for the mixtape feature that's a different story. I believe eventually NI will integrate Maschine as a post mix device where you can tidy up your mix from Traktor and add in some extra stuff.

-Possibility to record loops from specific deck target without Cue monitor on. Plus midi for each source.
-Echo freeze effect in group FX mode.
-Mapping commands for Master clock and recorder panels.

1) More customization on your deck layout. A "edit mode" where you can just grab a deck or mixer or fx and have the ability to move it around. The ability to minimize boxes.

2) A smart track browser. I'm not a big fan of the track browser, I want it to be more like Ableton's. Gives more space and easier to navigate.

3) Easier routing to other daws, softwares or hardwares.

4) Add macro effects, just like ableton's to create a chain of effects to make a build-up. With these macro effects you can modulate the volume, the dry/wet, EQ'S and so on.

In that case you can duplicate that track in any deck and preview effect in there
