I own a Traktor S2 and love it. Picking up a Z2 asap. As far as UK online shops go, by my experience DV247 are amazing. I just bought a Z2 and loads of stuff and even though I received it before the price drop, they refunded me

Traktor and Serato are the software you will use... Not sure what bad gear stories you've read. The NI controllers are pretty popular and Seratos stuff is rock solid, just expensive.

Reason for this is that it can start to teach you the basics of beat matching, effects, recording mixes, looping, etc plus there is big costs involved with setups so start of slowly and build you gear collection up bit by bit...

From here you can get your own idea on what you would want in a cdj/turntable after getting used to the programmes..

Yeah mixing on vinyl looks pretty cool, but may go for the cdj's. I was actually looking at the pioneer djm t1 the other day, loks real good! what price u reck i can get that for? under 500 u believe?

CDJ's can be added later if you are still enjoying it. You don't really want to cheap out on cdj's if you can help it, assuming your going for an industry standard feel, so if your still enjoying mixing after a couple years, you can always add cdj's to your set-up.

That said, if your just wanting to sync and Jesus pose, then get a mixtrack pro 2, and be done...

The thing is for me, something bigger than a S2 (the S4 is the limit) (therefore bigger than a controller) is impossible to me to carry it when I'm going away. It's also a choice of comfort.

In my opinion cdj 200 is the best for learning, it has poor precision and the least info on the display. If you really want to learn what is going on, you should mix it the hard way.
djm 350 is a good mixer for recording your mixes and listen to what you have done.
I would never had curiosity to know technically what I was doing if I was using a software... I would just keep using it blind as there is nothing much you can do to make the mixing more accurate from a software than it already is.
Upgrading your mixing skills on cdjs will make you understand the math behind it.

Got a nice pricematch from them recently too. You have to talk to/email the specific pricematch team though, as they're the only people permitted to drop the prices fully.

I have bought from dv247 also. They pricematch everywhere in Europe, and you can't beat the 4 year warranty.

That said, my local DJ store did match their price promise, and warranty on the DB4, so I'm pretty chuffed with them too.

I'm also starting "dj-ing" and I will go for a S2 or a S4 in a month depends if I was efficient.

I believe buying a mixer + 2 cdj thing are really expensive.

lol how the fuck can you get to controllers/vinyl after someone asks what cdj to buy.

also, i'd much rather take used 800s than new rmp1s... just one reason being the tray drive

yeah gonna check out some of those links you sent across, great help. Think it would easier to buy online too, might try and stretch my budget a bit more so these things last longer than a few years. Gonna have to try and save up tho! lol. dont believe i can go up to a 1000 though, sigh, wish i could. the only question now is, cd decks or old skool vinyl? your thoughts?

Oh. Well in that case you'll be fine. The first club you play in will be packed, everyone will love you, and the DJ Agencies will be falling over themselves to sign you.

You're a star. You probably don't even need to practice any more.

I did say club setup. And familiarity with the gear can only help in such a situation.

People care much more about the music being played than what the DJ is doing, which soon becomes obvious.

making the transition to a club setup seamless.
Don't believe, that becasue you are slightly familiar with the gear you'll be using, that you will be able to just turn up at a club and play like you're alone in your room.

You'll have a BIG shock if you believe that's how it happens... Yo'd be surprised how quickly you forget how any given function on a mixer works when 400 people are looking at you.

They're not really looking at you - but you'll believe they are. And that's all it takes to put you off your game...

Feedback on the RMPs is pretty hard to find as they're so unpopular, but I do see many complaints about the Cue/Play buttons wearing out. Finding replacement parts for Pioneer players is trivial - not so much for Reloop I'd imagine?

There's also the benefit of the CDJ 800 being functionally identical to all the higher range and more recent CDJ versions, making the transition to a club setup seamless.

Point taken, but most people would still rather have a set of brand new CDJs for roughly the same price, if not a little less. Comparing brand new gear to second hand is - to a certain extent - apples and oranges.

+1 to this.

Personally, if someone had NO DJ experience whatsoever, I'd recommend exactly that; get the cheapest piece of gear available on eBay/Gumtree/Craigslist, as long as it has jogwheels and pitch control. Even if its one of these:

All Buy It Now listings are overpriced - which explains why they're still up on the website.

There are plenty of cheaper listings around, you only have to look.
