Decribe what EDM is to you
Decribe what EDM is to you Posted on: 19.07.2013 by Wynell Muma Ok so there is loads of confusion around this thing called 'EDM' which is short for 'electronic dance music' I do believe. The confusion comes from what music is classed as 'EDM'. Some say it is any genre of dance music but to me, I don't believe it is. When I believe of EDM I believe of things like electro house, commercial dance music, obscene dubstep. Artists like Knife party or skrillex fit the bill quite well! However I don't believe that things like deep house or techno for example comes under the phrase EDM. yes it is dance music however it's a more underground scene. It's a completely different circle of people than what I would class as EDM fans. Does anyone else agree? I've been told that my latest mix is classed as EDM but I wouldn't class it as that at all https://soundcloud.com/meetsmandy/ouse-presents-breach-dj-comp What are your thoughts on this? | |

Warner Rotberg 20.07.2013 | On a plus note, these kids are the new generation. These kids will get bored of the mainstream "EDM" and then they will turn to more underground stuff. These are the kids who will be watching Tom Middleton and the like in a few years. But, this EDM sound has killed Ibiza. Beer boy chavs bouncing around to Richie Hawtin when hes playing weird as fuck minimal ploddy techno. |

Lakeshia Talavera 20.07.2013 | EDM is what we in England have called dance music for the last twenty to thirty years, but those from abroad have had to rebrand it to make sense of it and make it popular. Don't mean to offend anyone by this, but that is what it is to me. |

Werner Bile 19.07.2013 | I look at it as being this generation's version of "electronica". a meaningless, unneeded term that the media came up with because they're lazy. |
Gaynell Rydberg 19.07.2013 | Mainstream house/trance/dubstep/trap etc. What you'll hear at festival mainstages. I lurve it. All the haters can suck it. |
Rolanda Clodfelder 19.07.2013 | 4/4 Chart music |
Yong Aptekar 19.07.2013 | Erectile dysfunction music. The ravers know what I'm talking about. Lol |
Sebrina Pechette 19.07.2013 | Seems to describe a trend more than the music itself, doesnt it? |
Marshall Aby 19.07.2013 | I take it to mean the person using it has no idea what they're talking about. Or possibly they know what they're talking about, but neither I nor anyone else have a clue what they're talking about, because they've used the term EDM. Either way, it's bad |
Leon Albornoz 19.07.2013 | Shit. Any further questions? |
Werner Bile 19.07.2013 | When I hear people use that term I tend to assume they're talking about Electro House, or maybe electro house and commercial dubstep. |
