Deep House/Bass Music
Posted on: 01.02.2012 by Kelley Mendrick
Just wanted to get a rough idea on what people's thoughts on deep house and bass music are? SBTRKT, Pearson Sound, Disclosure, Boddika, Blawan, Maya Jane Coles, Eats Everything, Julio Bashmore, Mosca, Catz n Dogz...

Are these all artists popular with DJTT community members? I just wandered what the general feel for music here was!

P.S if you are into this kind of music leave some feedback on my quick 15minute mix! Thanks

And to the person who posted Plezier's "Plezier Anthem" a while back, this track is solid as well.

Yeah kinda, my biggest gripe with it is that there is no need for it, dubstep or drum & bass on their own are just fine.

^This thread is actually for all bass heavy music between 120-150 BPM. Most people just post deep house tho.

No way you put Detroit Swindle, MCDE and Moodymann in the same sentence...

Haha joking but yes, unfortunately it's all about labeling music to keep track... Personally, I find Moodymann's stuff true house music.

Bass Music has more sub bass than deep house in general. Lots of sub kick drums and the bass lines are usually upfront and low pitched. To be honest bass music is a pretty broad term but most of it in this thread is bass heavy house music allot of it with UK garage influence. Producers like 'Dusky' 'Justin Martin' 'midland' are examples that come to mind.
I agree with your entire statement, Loopcat. Especially when you said that Bass Music is a broad term. Because honestly, I don't believe there is an actual genre, "Bass Music". It's just a term that has evolved from peeps not knowing what to call this introduction, over the past few or more years, to add massive amounts of Sub Bass to their productions. Having said that, to me, I have noticed lots of this referenced in Deep House lately. That's why I keep posting Deep House choons in this thread. I'm really feeling the afore mentioned Future/UK_Garage sound. So too, am I feelin' the Deep Dubstep that has been released over the past couple years. Though, I HATE the term, "Dungeon", that is used to describe it. The resurgence of Oldskool Hardcore and it's mutated offspring, Juke, has me especially excited lately as well.

^I'm really into deep dubstep and deep drum & bass and I know sometimes people refer to those genres as bass music as well, especially deep dubstep.

I'm trying to get into genre and I went pretty far back into the thread and found some nice stuff. But if anybody could give me a list of like the anthems of the genre.

I'll also check out the producers you mentioned.
