France Evoniuk 25.12.2011 | So I figured I'd finally post in this thread. Don't really have a DJ name yet, don't feel I really qualify as one atm. Auckland, New Zealand. First got into Dance music through Pendulum and deadmau5 (lol). That was 2010. Music taste matured towards the end of 2010, then really got into Electro in around Feb 2011. Took a crack at producing with trial copies of DAWs, but didn't really understand structure, so I figured I would learn to DJ first. Got Traktor Demo and VDJ Home, and went nuts. So I've been "DJing" for 6 or 7 months and have done 3 paying gigs so far. I normally play Electro and Progressive House, with a bit of Dubstep and maybe Moombaton. |
Tracee Depaula 25.12.2011 | DJ Byas/Tobias or Toby Western Massachusetts House, Tecno, Dub-step, Hip-hop...really anything and everything Im new to DJing (buying a VCI-100 and DJ i/o tomorrow unless im persuaded otherwise, but I only have ~$350 budget), but I've been a huge music fan my entire life and have been seriously interested in DJing for 5 years. Now in college, I joined the DJ club and decided it was time to get a controller. Not planning on making a carrear out of music, but if I could travel around for a few months after college spinning that would be awesome. I have a bunch of friends who spin and I've been creeping on the community here for close to a year now, but I finally decided to make an account. uhh, yeah, that's pretty much it. pm me if you wanna say hi (or if im making a mistake with this first setup) and I'll say hi back. |

I take on my alter ego of complete basswhore. I've been cruising these community
s for a while now picking up tons of invaluable information, thanks for all that guys. So now I feel that I've reached the point where I feel comfortable with maybe sharing some of my own experiences with heavy bass abuse. I'll try to keep it short, but mind you I easily get carried away. Since this is a huge DJ-community
I guess I'll have to namedrop like it's going out of style so please bear with me. I've been a fan of electronic music ever since I was a pale and overweight fourteen-year old and heard The Prodigy's "Jilted Generation" in 1994. After that point I sort of followed the breadcrumbs to other artists and soon discovered this huge world of music that rocked my teenage balls. So I stopped listening to Public Enemy and became obsessed with electronic genres. Thanks to the jilted generation (see what I did there?) I started listening to stuff like Roni Size, LTJ Bukem, Photek, Shy FX, Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. In my emo-years I went over to the whole Bristol wave which in turn led me down the path to obligatory depressing shit like Swans, Sisters of Mercy and The Golden Palominos. I'd always listened to punk and hardcore on the side of everything else, so when I grew out of the whole eyeliner-and-self-mutilation-phase and instead became an angry adult I started listening almost exclusively to hardcore rawk n' roll. Then I had sort of a 1994-to-2000 deja-vu experience when I heard Dieselboy's "Sixth Session" as it came out in 2000. I became a born-again breakbeatboy, and like I said I've been a complete basswhore ever since. Now I've been a part of the dnb-scene here in Oslo for ten years, and right this second I suddenly feel like an old fart. But being a fan of drum&bass that's mean enough to steal your bike and punch your sister (Tech Itch , anyone?) I found (old school) dubstep like Plastikman and Benga to be too slow, too sludgy and too boring. But a final turning point (enough already) came when I heard....wait for it.... Scary Monsters and Sprites. I guess I just alienated myself from half the population of this board, but I'm leaning towards the sentiment of not giving a shit When I heard the sick energy in the oh-so-controversial wobble I became obsessed to the point where I decided I had to do something more than just listen. More people should hear these sounds, and I wanna move from the floor to the booth. These days I spend every minute of my spare time finding, listening to and sharing good music through mixes and mashups as well as teaching myself Traktor and Ableton. I started out back in April of this year, making multitrack mixes in Audition for friends and family. Turns out that I can't stop doing it, and now it's bordering on pathological and neurotic. But if it's a mental disorder it's an awesome one. My social life is dying, I don't have time to make proper meals and my sleeping-patterns are fubar due to the fact that I stay up until two am every evening and get up at eight to go to work every morning. But with the amount of fun I'm having it's totally worth it. I have squeezed out something like eighteen hours of music in the form of fourteen mixes that to are actually being listened to. Soundcloud is one hell of a drug, and it gives my bad self-esteem a huge boost to know that the mixes I've uploaded since April have been (braggy douchebag warning!) downloaded three thousand times and played eleven thousand times in one hundred countries. Literally. Stats and analytics are also one hell of a drug, I'll tell you that much. It's a complete mindfuck, is what it is! The positive feedback has pushed me into believing that I've actually got a shot at quitting my dayjob, and that's where I am today. Damn, that became a long post. See, I told you I get carried away easily. |

Nella Libin 15.12.2011 | Hi there! Just thought i'd introduce myself here.. I'm a 14 year old boy from Bolton in the UK, i've never span a record in my life and i figure that pretending to be a DJ would help me get all the really hot chicks like Jordan and them TOWIE birds. I'm sick and tired of masturbating furiously by myself in my bedroom over my Max Power magazines. Its really embarasing reaching up for them naughty boobie and rudie bits magazines, and when my mum finds them sticking to the underside of my matress she hits me and burns my Razzle collection. So please, if you see anything i write in your threads where i'm pretending to know everything about topics that i cant possibly have any real world experience in, back me up and make me appear knowledgeable . and could you pretend you're my freind. Thanks |
