Reply to X1 midi setup problem

i have Traktor recognizing the X1 midi input, having added a "generic midi", but when i hit (shift)+(hotcue) to enter midi mode to try and map it half of the buttons don't send a signal.

FX1 button 3 on the left side, and FX2 'ON,' 2 and 3 are dark.. on the left transport, IN, beat >, cue/rel, and sync are dark, making a little zigzag pattern...

it's the same pattern that shows up even if Traktor isn't set to input the midi.. has anyone else run into this? i was under the impression that all buttons/knobs were assignable in midi mode as well as while using the standard mapping. my hopes are to run decks 1/2 from the standard, and 3/4 off midi...

any help is greatly appreciated...
