Traktor Pro Mapping for TouchOsc via Osculator
Traktor Pro Mapping for TouchOsc via Osculator Posted on: 30.11.2009 by Lupe Shehee Hey there,This is actually two setups. 1 for using the iPhone as the mixer for mixing in the box and the second is for using an external dj mixer where the iPhone is used for everything but the main mixer controls. One Traktor mapping controls both TouchOsc setups One Osculator map controls them both as well They both have transport controls, cue point starts, FX controls - Dry wet for each FX and sub FX and on, off (internal can control FX 1 & 2, External can control all four FX) Loops set, increase, decrease and a nice fader control to turn the loops up or down filter control and on off for both Channels. The final page is to browse for tracks and has crate browse, track browse, load to deck a, load to deck b and a toggle browser only button so you can see more while your browsing. I have only setup decks A & B due to space constrictions but feel free to edit the maps if you believe you want all four decks on your iPhone :-) My shitty nocturn died again last week so I used these maps to play at Serato Sams birthday party last weekend with no problems at all. Enjoy!!! | |

Lupe Shehee 11.07.2011 | No problem at all glad your enjoying it. To be honest I have not done any work on this for a while and looking through the post on this thread its awesome to see others have adapted the mappings. |
Inocencia Bill 11.07.2011 | Hey pooks, massive thank you for the mappings! This is really awesome work, and I really appreciate your effort! |
Luz Innamorato 29.05.2011 | how do u create the tsi file. Because you can create your custom template. And you can programm it on osculator , moving the things on the ipad. But what you have to do to control traktor. For example i have mixtrack pro and im using traktor. I want to use my ipad to control the fx and hot cues. Can u please help me I want to use two controllers |
Lilliana Perris 20.04.2011 | When I opened this ...for the iPhone...it was way too large. Seemed it was for the Ipad only? Is this one updated for the iPhone? If so ....FUCKIN A! |
Georgeann Lopeztorres 20.04.2011 | just wanted to say massive thanks to pooks and others here for the effort. got it all working with macbook pro, traktor and iphone/itouch + pd extended. one tip i picked up from another thread is that with the mac, you don't need a wireless router. just go to network settings and Create Network. it will be called the same as your hostname with .local appended (see settings > sharing to get your hostname). join this wifi network from your iphone and you are good to go in any environment. i've tested this with 10 metres distance and two walls between - so you could dj anywhere with no need for a wifi router |
Gene Beauplan 07.04.2011 | any updates for traktor 2? |
Tamra Bernaldez 21.03.2011 | I used Pooks's file and just reconfigured it to work sort of like an X1. Figured I would share as well TRAKTORX1_OSC.zip Cheers |
Shantae Kaing 20.03.2011 | ok finally bought osc on the ipad 2 and cant get this to work at all Downloaded the zips with the instructions and did it step by step. I can get the osc files to my iPad and i got everything setup like the tutorial, but it just messes up the audio in traktor and my ipad does no controlling what so ever. I have a VCI-100SE and just wanted to use the ipad for effects but i cant get it to do any controlling Ok, I got it working, however its causing the music to be really fuzzy and laggy |
Shantae Kaing 19.03.2011 | thanks for the mappings and this thread. Just got an iPad 2 and plan on buying osc next week and going to see if I can get it setup with my vci100 and traktor. |
Hertha Gregori 13.03.2011 | I am looking for the .tsi file for OSC on the htc evo phone. |
Romelia Stankard 07.03.2011 | I just can't get this to work no matter what I try, can someone take a couple screenshots of the traktor settings tab and osculator showing how the ports/ ins/outs are setup? This is really confusing me since I believe I should get it. Should all ports be on 8000 or what? |
Shay Terek 03.03.2011 | YEA! The issue the whole time was i was doing all this fooling around without my djio sound card in. The issue was that traktor was looking for midi through that sound card, which wasn't attached. So it wasn't receiving anything. Sound card needs to be in, or assigned to the built in sound card to work. Now all you who have this problem in the future can learn from me. Not to sound pretentious but I literally combed the internet for a solution. |
Shay Terek 01.03.2011 | Po0ks, I'm sending my PD midi out to MIDI Yoke 1 and the in in Traktor in Midi Yoke 1. I tried using an older version of PD with no success. Traktor just isn't getting the data. That icon between "control" and "audio" on the top HUD turns orange when I assign the in to the tsi file to midiyoke which i guess means it's not receiving data. I'm banging my head against the wall on this one, it makes no sense. I might just reinstall traktor if i can't find a solution. -- Edit: I reinstalled traktor and updated it. It now shows a blue icon up top instead of an orange one when i select any of the midiyoke inputs. I'm still stuck |
Lupe Shehee 01.03.2011 | Hey Bro, As long as you have midi Out in Pd set to the same midi In channel for my tsi the two should communicate. I have used it on a windows 7 box and am using MidiYoke NT 1.75 Beta Make sure you are setting the midi In for Traktor for the specific tsi i.e select the tsi from the Device droipdown list and then set the Midi In to the MidiYoke channel you are using. Cheers PoOkS |
Shay Terek 01.03.2011 | I'm having one problem that has been bugging the hell out of me for the past few days that maybe someone can help me with. I have tried using both the simple layout, mix2 layout and pooks' layout but none have worked. I have successfully linked my itouch to my windows laptop via adhoc network. I can open puredata and load the appropriate layout and see the sliders move in PD when i touch them on my itouch. But the commands never get sent to Traktor. I have set the "in" to midiyoke 1 on Traktor and the "out" in PD to midiyoke 1 out. I have also tried using Maple Virtual Midi Cable which does the same thing as midiyoke with no success. I've tried loading pooks' tsi into Traktor with no success either. Is there some windows setting that I have to set or something? What could the issue be? Thanks -Jake |
Lizzette Loftsgard 12.02.2011 | hy i am from brasil , why when i browse the track , junping 6 by 6 , not one by one ? help me , i bought some templates , and all is like that !!! thanks dude |

Monroe Vandeslunt 01.02.2011 | I first tried to use Pooks mapping for touchosc on an ipad. It had trouble getting it to work, it doesn't show up as a selectable layout unless you change the template from iphone to ipad size before you sync using touchosc editor. It is very well done but didn't suit my needs, so I checked out ipad-dj.net. I coughed up the dough to purchase the 4 deck ipad template and tried it out last evening and I can say that I am happy with it. The design is well done, personally I would of preferred slightly smaller faders and larger eq knobs as I mostly do eq blends in my music. I would also like to recommend pitch faders rather than pitch buttons as its more "natural" to me. |
Mariann Brabec 01.02.2011 | Ok after a few trial and errors and some research i finally came across this post, THANK YOU!!!! all works well, only one suggestion, add more cue point triggers? Thanks again! |
Latonia Azlin 28.12.2010 | hello I have a ipad I want to use as a controller with traktor ... and I have 7 windows programthat I use to synchronize them? |
Dillon Paganini 15.11.2010 | thanks i appreciate it. i will have to give it ago this weekend. right now i am busy with school. looks very thorough tho! |

Lupe Shehee 15.11.2010 | Ok so here is the same version I uploaded before apart from now the Pd file is tidier with hidden cables and there is a very basic setup guide included. If you get stuck let me know which bit and then we can work from there. |
Dillon Paganini 15.11.2010 | thats sweet! I wanna make a midi controller and my buddy suggested an arduino. However I havent really taken any programming classes yet and I don't know of any arduino that has the connections for a 4x4 arcade with 3 faders. Thanks for any information on the touchosc its really appreciated! |
Lupe Shehee 15.11.2010 | Hey, I am sorting out some instructions which I will post they may help you setup your TouchOSC. I had been using the Arduinome to control Ableton with the 7UPLive app, and also played around with mlr & Boiingg as well. I did make a Traktor controller for it but I never used i really. It was loads of fun to make the Arduinome and loads of fun getting to grip with the apps people have created for ot and the Monome, the community around it is really helpful and there are some crazy little apps that have been made. |
Dillon Paganini 13.11.2010 | also I just noticed that u have an arduinome, mind if i asked what you did with it? |
Dillon Paganini 13.11.2010 | oh sorry. i am using pd extended but ill use whatever is better |
Lupe Shehee 13.11.2010 | yup but are you using the Pd connection or the OSCulator connection to get connected? |
Dillon Paganini 13.11.2010 | Ipod touchOSC |
Lupe Shehee 13.11.2010 | @mutique Thanks for that bro, I will take a look and incorporate it into the mapping. |
Lupe Shehee 13.11.2010 | Are you using the Pd version or the OSCulator version? |
Dillon Paganini 13.11.2010 | anybody have a guide of how to set this up. I cant get it to work for traktor for whatever reason |
Selma Finklea 13.11.2010 | Pooks you said on 06-07-2010 "Oh I almost forgot there is no two way communication via Pd data sends from touchosc but it does not receive" So, I found a way how to realize a communication in the other direction. When I started working with Ableton Live, I created my own TouchOSC template and added the functionality within my PD file to give feedback from Live to my iPod Touch. Here a short description of the pd file: With the "loadbang" the connection to the specified host (here:IP-adress + port) is done at start. "disconnect" is for manual usage. The solution is that all data is send from the pages ("s send_osc") and received in the main windows with "r send_osc". With "sendOSC" the data will be sent to your device e.g. iPod Touch or iPad. |
Lupe Shehee 22.09.2010 | @fascistdonut - cheers bro! Good to know people are using the mapping! :-) @elquinto - the iPhone might be a bit too small for a full midifighter so I'm starting with the iPad, but there is no reason why the mapping could not work for both if you want one. I will post it up once I have finished it. |
Dora Koltz 22.09.2010 | A midi-fighter layout on the iphone would be killer! Cueing is pretty limited with your current layout. |
Elvie Burgs 22.09.2010 | Pooks - I just wanted to drop in and give a heart felt thanks for all your work. I got touchOSC a while back for this purpose but then never bothered to take the time to really map it out in a useable way. This is just the sort of thing I've been waiting for. Props bro - I appreciate it! |
