New little problem here

am using some of these buttons for some functions

but i want em to stay on the whole time
am using normal mode for the apc

when in normal mode the ledz are toggle on off
(even with no function added to em )

so when i use an Outfunction i've put
the controller range on 1/1 and the midi range also 1/1
+ 2x send monitor state with inverse for each button
(so that all the ledz stays on )
the thing is whenever i add the monitor state function to the buttons
they don't function anymore the leds are on but when pressing em
nothing happens

any1 knows what i'm doing wrong here ? or how to solve this
hope some1 will

thnx in advance sincerly yann

no man i'm just getting started with Bomes now and i can tell you definitely that the 3 buttons depending on whether or not you start ableton or not 1st have 2 ways of working, the 1st, without ableton handshake and just turned on you will get a midi note on message... the light will stay on, then next time you press it you will get a midi note off message the light goes out. this way there are 2 commands invert is midi off.

if however you start live 1st then there are 3 commands and all sent evry push of the button, so you get a midi note on when you press it at 127 velocity, if you hold it you will get a same midi note on at velocity 0 and thenwhen you release the button you get the midi note off command.

so you can choose whether you want it in Dumb Mode or Normal Mode, but Normal Mode will give you the invert you want as a toggle not a release.

i've tried so many stuff now i got like my 4 first activator buttons with ledz stayed on loading tracks in 4 different decks

now o, channel-5 activator button loads an fx with ledz constantly on like how i wanted i've managed to do it 4 the solo cue button also on channel-5
but the third button Record arm totaly is not working

the moment I activate send monitor state with inverse the leds stays on but nothing works for that button the weird behaviour is that even copying 1 function more times cause i can't inverse the function ( what worked for solo/cue and activator without inverse )

doesn't work with the record arm button

the 2 other buttons i just got to press em once and it does what it has to do
but for the third button I still have to press it once then it's on + led on
if i press it a 2nd time the led is off

it still works as a toggle button any idea how i can fix this ...???
are the 3 buttons in a column like for example activator solo/cue and record arm on channel 5 connected to eachother in some way ... ?

to get them to stay on permanently you are creating midi feedback, The APC sort of has a mind of it's own in normal mode, which is also what i use. Each of the buttons has a specific on/off association on the APC itself which is why sometimes (eg Hotcues) a 'Send Monitor State In' is required... the basics here are that each button on the matrix when pushed changes colour to green and then when released sends an Off message directly to the LED ignoring whatever the program has sent when the button was pushed in the first place if there is no direct 'Out' for that control, Hotcues have 'States'.

So the act/solo etc. have been designed the opposite they have an on/off state which is held and the two messages are not the same, i.e. the release message is held until pushed twice... the reason for the invert command, if you don't have an invert command then when the button is pushed a second time the LED goes off and nothing happens in Traktor, then you push it again and it comes on and Traktor responds. These functions are dealt with APC side and not by Traktor or any midi mapping, thus even if you get the LED to stay on (midi feedback) you will have to push the button twice to get it to work.

however if you assign Load Deck A to the button no invert it willl load and light up, then set unload to the same button and tick invert it will load/unload as you push the button.

hi thnx 4 the reply i got it to work for like the activator buttons i use Those first 4 to load my tracks into decks and for that the led is constantly turned on whenever u push it down once it loads a track to the assigned deck

now for that function it worked to get the leds on

but i wanna use those 12 other buttons from channel 5 to 8 activator Solo cue and record arm the same way the buttons have 2 be on constantly and have their function

it worked for activator as load buttons but i can't do the same for the others

i believe it depends on what function u want to assign that makes the difference in how ledz react i once wrote somewhere something i noticed about it ^^ i'll look it up later

thnx already 4 the reply gonna check it out soon

Hi dude,

right the ACTIVATOR, SOLO/CUE and RECORD ARM buttons on the APC do not need to be assigned an output for the LED's this creates midi feeedback confusion instead they send a message twice once for on and once for off so:

I found this out because i was trying to use 3 of them for the Preview load unload and seek functions no matter what i did invert blend etc it would flip round from only sending ma message when the light came on or when it went off, so load and unload worked only by pushing the button twice between each. Same for the Seek it had to be pushed twice to work.

So you need to send 2 ins from that same button and tick one of the in's as invert.

for me that meant selecting button interaction mode increase and invert ticked on 1 and not the other for Seek. for the load unload the correct one had to be inverted for it to be the off message i.e. preview unload inverted.

I was also trying to get the activator button to Audio Record on and off and the double push was driving me crazy. So 2 in's and one inverted and it works perfectly.

To recap add 'in' command twice for the same button and tick invert on the one you want to be the off function.

Hope that helps you out.

Robbie
