the lpd8 is an awesome bit of kit for the price - i will def pick up a 2nd one when i don't have anything else to buy.

i did replace the knobs tho - for more rubbery/thinner/taller ones.

i released a full on multi-page mapping for my midimasher for full 2 deck control with nothing more than a single lpd8... and also a config that turns one into midifighter 4bank emulation mode - using PAD mode for the top 2 rows and CC mode for the bottom two - so i can use it with the instant grat tsi.

having 2 would be great... push them together for a midifighter/apc type layout or use them vertically each side of a mixer for extra deck controls... or any which way

in windows going to "file > controller manager > import" (import btn is right at the bottom) lets you select/load any tsi. it will wipe any settings you currently have setup (which i guess is what you want anyway) so you could always do an "export" from that page .

from that page you can also do "Add.. > Import" (Add... is near the top) to add new settings to what you currently have without wiping the existing ones.

Hi everybody, I am kind of a newbie in this dj world Ive never mapped anything by myself (people did it for me...) I'm mixing with traktor pro 1.2.4 and a standard mapping for the rmx and I was looking for a new mapping to controls the effects better. Yours seem very interesting but I just don't know how to set it in traktor if anyone have a link that shows how you to put this mapping in traktor I would be very thankful.

Look on the every first page. There's an explanation (with a video of what i tried to copy) and a picture of Hercules RMX. All the buttons/inputs/pots are all labeled according to the midi signal they spit out. My explanation take that into account (it could be written better but, meh).

Hey I just loaded this up, and have barely had a chance to look at what kind of stuff you have set up. However, right off the bat I've got the weirdest problem. CC 11, the play/pause key, isn't firing at all, though 12 and 13 are fine (the CUE and stop.) Seems like your mapping's set up just fine for it, but it just won't activate. Problem's the same on the other side of the deck with CC 35.

I also just tested my old mapping (as I just updated to 1.2.1) and it seems to run the play/pause just fine.

I'll get you some feedback about the scratch and FX modes when I have a chance to figure them out, but right now I'm trying to fix the play/pause mapping.

edit: I just realized it's because 1.2 lets two mappings overlap that I couldn't use CC11 or CC35 correctly. Also, I don't know if it was intentional, but when in FX mode, the jog wheel on the left is only set to on when turning counter-clockwise, diminishing the effect. Makes for some wacky build-downs, but maybe not what you intended.

otherwise a fun map. thanks

Sorry I want someone to add the jog wheel search function seen in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTDVqrPJJLI @ 3:33 then this will be much closer to complete.

Have you scoped Armyofme on youtubes mappings? Hers had badass full screen browser that turned the right jog wheel into a scroll through function and once you loaded the track, it went back to the normal screen and all the old functions were back.

I'd try scoping her mapping.

I'll try to post the mapping here when I get home.

p.s. I use the 1.6 now and just hold the STOP button to pitch bend. Thnx!

Everyone,
I've only posted two versions of my mapping in this post. The 1.6 version makes the jog wheels respond like a turntable platter. For that not to happen, or to get the pitch bend back you now have to hit hold stop. I don't generally use that version ever.
liveperformerz(trini) requested that change so I made that file for him.
The tsi file that I'm posting now will have that feature removed.
Has anyone figured out how to add a browser search function to this mapping? I still need it and there are blank commands in each of these files to add it. I just can 't get it to work without there being some type of macro-overlap with other jog wheel commands.
If you have any questions shoot me an email.

If any of you are interested I'm working on a map from the ground up using ideas from this map and others. There are some features on it some will hate but I am making it to suit my style. I should have it up here within the next week or so, just need to find the time to finish it up.

Long time reader of the site but just finally signed up to the community s to say good looking out.

Stopped spinning years ago, but couldnt resist the urge and picked me up one of these a few months back. Been having a lot of fun with it but was getting frustrated trying to map it myself from scratch (so much potential, so little knowledge of mapping on my part tho...def need to hit the 'books'). Looking forward to trying this out later this week!

Whe could do something with a shift button if this works for the rmx ?
Susannah Cordner

That's the only downfall I've found on it too. I HAVE to hit the sync button now.... and I try to NOT do that.

Any help would be amazing!

I tried out the 1.2 mapping today and thus far I really enjoyed it. JUST found out about the 1.6 version. I will try it out tomorrow at a party and test it real world.

Great mapping already from just practicing on it. I've been using armyofme's mapping off youtube for a minute. I like the hybrid vci style effects controlling of yours though.

I mean once I import your file and I go onto the control manager and select your map there are no commands. The version posted on the first page works and has all the commands in there but that 1.6 version doesn't.

What do you mean by blank? Do you have any control over traktor once the file is loaded at all?

Although the jog wheels work in opposite directions for the fader FX. On the right deck if i go up on jog wheel it turns on but is opposite on the left wheel. Is it meant to work like that?

@drex
This mapping can be adpated for the STEEL. It will not work completely as is since the STEEL sends out slighty different MIDI signals. I can look at redoing one for you but it will take a little time.

Since i don't have a STEEL you'll have to test it for me.

I don't believe that there is anything wrong with your hardware. It's just diffent then the RMX.

let me know if you're interested in testing this file for me.

Hi,

Tried it and it didn't work. Can't get to deck C&D. Thought it might be the USB port power issue (macbook 13 black) but that made no difference. Wiped all my other controller maps for traktor and reinstalled it, but that didn't work.

I've had enough.

Thanks for your help though, much appreciated.

If you look at the end of the document included with the MIDI profile, you'll see that the APPLY CTRL button is simply a shift function for the 2 top encoders: in the DECK A positions, they send CC 65 & CC 66, CC 69 & CC 70 in SELECT position, and CC 67 & CC68 in DECK B position.

As for the rest of the controls, everything that is common to both consoles have the same MIDI assignment (transport, EQ, faders, etc). The major difference are the encoders and the FX/Loop which are doubled because of the SHIFT buttons.

So let's say you try this 4 deck mapping, simply leave the SHIFT buttons OFF, and you'll have exactly the same configuration as if you had an Rmx.

As for my personal mapping, it,s noting fancy. Since I use loops more than anything, I simply remapped all the numpads buttons to trigger cue points. The rest is pretty much the default Hercules mapping.

Hi DJ Phatso,

The only difference I can see is that the Steel has "shift" buttons instead of "source" buttons on the RMX and the RMX has no "Apply Control on" deck selector.

So the only questions I need to answer to use your mapping is - what does the "Apply Ctrl on" selector do on the Steel (in midi terms) / what should I have it set at so it doesn't interfere with your mapping

Thanks again.

Hi DJ Phatso,

Have you got a picture of your mapping - showing what does what? and, (sorry for bugging you) what are the major differences between the Steel and the RMX apart from the integrated audio, i.e. what buttons are missing / present? from what I've found out the RMX has less buttons than the steel?

Thanks for your help.
Celsa Courtemanche

The MIDI configuration is pretty much the same (beside the obvious differences) between the two consoles, so you should be good.

I'm looking at a Herc Steel at the moment, would this mapping work (mainly) on that controller? The only one I can find on the web sucks, has multiple(bad) interconnections between controllers and looks like it's going t take ages to debug it.

Are the controllers very different? or would your mapping be a better starting point?

Thanks for your help
