2 x LPD8 and Traktor Pro 2 - Midi Fighter Instant Gratification Replica + extras I just finished painstakingly trying to reverse engineer and re-create the midi-fighter instant gratification mapping on a couple of LPD8s. This mapping has been based on a mixture of watching instant gratification videos, trial and error, and the use of this thread (http://www.djranking

/showthread.php?t=24757) The zip file contains 3 files- 2 preset files and a mapping file. Orienting your LPD8s one on top of another to form a 4x4 grid, you need to apply the preset midifighter1 in the top LPD8, and midifighter2 in the bottom LPD8. After that, import the mapping file LPD8MIDIFIGHTER, including controller mapping and effects settings, and you should be good to go. On top of the 16 buttons representing the midi fighter, there are some other features in this mapping- some which may be odd as they're specific to my set up. Some are odd just because after mapping the pads I had 16 knobs and no idea what to do with them, so they're mostly experimenting. I can make a more consistent and solid set up if there's interest. The first 2 columns of knobs (assuming the LPD8s are oriented one on top of another) load, route, and activate combinations of effects to the highlighted tracks, as well as control their amounts. I don't suggest combining these, as they overlap- I routed most of these combos through FX3 to keep FX1 and 2 more free for manual control. The fourth column loads and routes various phasers or flangers (2 of each) to the highlighted decks. The third column is particularly weird. I have the LPD8 set up to control FX3 when in CC mode, specifically the beat slicer, and column 3 was assigned for this purpose. IMPORTANT: To work around the lack of a 4 banks mode for the LPD8 akin to the Midifighter, the mapping has been modified slightly. The top row of buttons are toggles, which represent decks A, B, C, and D, each linked to a modifier. When highlighted, effects will apply to each of the highlighted decks. Basically, what this means is you do not have the ability to directly save your patterns like the original midi fighter (although you could still record it through the loop recorder), or use 4 separate banks, but you have complete control over how many and which decks to apply the effects and combos to. Issues: -For Combo 4, you need to hold down beatmasher 1, 2, and 3, THEN release, hold beatmasher 3, then press beatmasher 4 (The original mapping required you to press, but not hold initial 3 beatmashers). -Combo 6 mentioned in the aforementioned thread is not mapped. I have no idea what the combo does, therefor I could not program it. -Minor discrepancies between parameter values in my mapping and the original mapping. -It's entirely possible there are other issues I'm not privy too, as my S4 and X1 mappings. | |
