Need help with cue/ loop mapping MF3D
Posted on: 19.02.2013 by Valentine Hesch
I am trying to accomplish this scenario:

- store cue points as loops.
- when that cue point is triggered via a button push it jumps to that cue point but does NOT activate the loop to auto-repeat
- a separate button sets the loop as active.

Currently I have a separate button for the active state, which works. However, whenever I trigger the cue that is saved as a loop-type-cue-point it always triggers the active state. I have not been able to jump to to that cue-point and have it not activate the loop.

Can this be accomplished and if so any help in mapping would be appreciated.

I solved the problem another way. The cue points are standard cue points and I created a command for inserting a backwards loop. I also created some command for adjusting the in-point of the loop.

John,
Thanks for the reply. I don't believe it can be done either and the work around that you explained is what I was using. The reason I was trying to do this is that sometimes I want to bring in a cue point in the and use it either as a loop or just a cue point to bring in a song. If it is stored as a loop it will always activate. And I am finding that I will make a mistake by not deactivating it. To solve this I need to figure out how to display a different color for different cue point types on the MF3D. Don't quite know how to do this.

I tried Beaubryte's mapping and it is very powerful. The challenge that I have is that I don't always sync my tracks. Sometimes I will but I often just tempo sync and make make adjustments manually. I made my own mapping that includes pitch bend buttons (middle) and tempo adjust (outside) of the bottom row.

I also got the impression that Beaubryte's mapping was intended to be used along side an S2 or S4 because the of the shift+play. From using the mapping it didn't seem that it was designed to be used as the primary controller, more of a very powerful add on. Maybe you could explain how you use Beaubrytes mapping...

Either way, I uploaded my mapping. Tried to upload the MF3D settings but they wouldn't upload.

I don't know if this can be done, perhaps someone on here with more knowledge might be able to shed some more light ?? Kind of curious myself ...

BUT what I would do to accomplish what your trying to do is this:

(keep in mind I use the BeauBryte MF3D All-In-One Mapping which gives me 8 cue points on my MF3D as the first two rows, you could just map your own on your mapping)

I would use two buttons for one single cue point in the track, one as a loop, one as a cue point. And then I would set my cue points up on my MF3D above each other so I could keep track of what goes with what.

This is what I mean:

Column one, row one, (the top left button) would be cue point "1" and this would be JUST a cue point. Column one, row two, (2nd row all the way left button) would be cue point "5" set at the EXACT same place as cue point "1" but set as a loop. So to accomplish what you want, you could trigger the loop by pressing cue point "5", and when you want to trigger the cue point press "1".

The only thing I know you might run into from doing things similar to this in the past is if you press your cue point, and have the "ACTIVE" button lit in traktor, it will automatically start to loop, so I would map something to turn off the "ACTIVE" button I'm reffering to, prehaps one of the 6 side buttons on the MFD.
