robert chanda 20.09.2008 | Remember, it lets you "control and manipulate music, on a Mac or a PC, like a DJ". Sure, because I've always wanted to be "like a DJ". Fire the copy writers - even during the launch of their keynote digital DJ device, they just couldn't bring themselves to say that digital DJs are "real DJs". It's moments like this when you realise just how far digital DJing has to go to become accepted. |
robert chanda 20.09.2008 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad6yaDxE1Lg So it *is* multi-touch - as demoed with the three EQ channels. Very much a modal interface - switch to EQ mode to access the EQ "knobs", then to FX mode to control the four FX knobs. The good thing is that using the top-left volume slider, it gives you access to all four of the FX controls, something our current VCI-100 mappings don't. It'll still need some Bome's programming to get it to trigger the "hold" when the FX Amount hits to the top of the range but that should be simple enough to do - your only remaining problem is how to feel that you've hit the top of the range. A knob has a hard stop there that you can feel. A slider gives you very little feedback. The Loop mode gives you for controls - a big pad in the middle that does loop drop and four areas that set loop lengths. They really need to map a "sync" to the loop release so that releasing from a 1-beat loop gets the song back into time. Deck Select mode allows control of two turntables. Why not four? You have the four outside buttons. How many keypresses does it take to load up another track, kill the bass on the other and crossfade between them? Wow. Switch mode, ftuz with values, switch mode, futz, switch mode, futz, etc. So, as an entry level device it's about as capable as a well setup X-Session Pro. If you could replace those touch buttons with actual buttons it'd be a great device. Oh, and the cardboard "Hi, I'm Richard Divine... now let's take it to the next level" is a sample that I'm going to be stealing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PUVHgKnrts Props to Bome's for getting their logo on the DaRouter software. |

Assigning multiple functions to a single button means that you either have to use two hands to perform a single operation (in order to be safe and make sure it's doing what you expect). Or you have to put the unit into a mode to activate different function layers. That's always going to mean that there's combination of operations that can't be performed a the same time. If the unit doesn't have a good way to indicate which operations are active, then it's also dangerous because you can believe you're throwing on an effect but instead stop your live track or whatever else that's going to seriously fuck up your mix. Nothing here indicates they've put much consideration into those points: http://www.gearjunkies.com/news_info.php?news_id=3136 |

Santi Taos 12.09.2008 | looks the same to me.... |
Anushka jayamaha 12.09.2008 | Looks like a top view of The Starship Enterprise |
robert chanda 12.09.2008 | The Stanton SCS.D3 "DaSkratch" entry level controller, because all DJs do is scratch records. Sure. Officially now BORED with all these controllers going on and on about how "dope" and "skratch-y" they are while reinventing old ways of playing vinyl. Can we please move the fuck on now? In it's favor it does look spill proof. Good for DJs with shaky beer hands. |
gilbert hatem 12.09.2008 | So that controller that I posted is not the one we are looking at? I believe that I am in community limbo sometimes. |
Diogo Dj Dragão 12.09.2008 | Not a non disclosure. I don't need those anymore because now if I leak something they'll just fire me. |

Anushka jayamaha 13.09.2008 | Something about stanton gear other than needles just seems like a waste of time and money . Could have been their rep @ Remix hotel during the WMC 2 years ago he just seemed like a sleazy salesman who had no working knowledge of their product . |

Maybe nem0nic knows about this one?
|
gilbert hatem 12.09.2008 | lol, work doesn't allow me to view youtube videos. I guess that why I could see it. I'll have to watch at home. |
Random X 12.09.2008 | Looks like a thinner version of the SCS.1m. Maybe nem0nic knows about this one? |
12.09.2008 | well, it certainly looks intriguing but common: a midi controller next to your turntable- thats not exactly revolutionary. let me see what I can dig up. |
Dj Daxsen 11.09.2008 | yeh it worked for me |
gilbert hatem 11.09.2008 | I cant watch the video, it's not working, can anyone else see it? |
Dj Daxsen 11.09.2008 | looks cool, not a lot known about it |
