VCI-100 se vs. Kontrol x1 & Xone 22
VCI-100 se vs. Kontrol x1 & Xone 22 Posted on: 19.02.2010 by Marisha Fracis He all,I dj digitally with traktor at small clubs, expositions, at home / house party's. Mostly together with other dj's using cdjs and vinyl. I'am looking for a mobile / small form factor controller + home / non-club setup. Now I'am really enthusiastic about the vci-100 se. But in small clubs there is mostly just place for my gear on top of the hood of one sl1200, some booths it is hard to even get a stand in like the crane. Plus I like to mix on the regular dj mixer in the club for high def faders and filters, and not be standing behind my screen all the time. And maybe in the near future dj with timecode vinyl as well. I reckon a mbp + vci-100se won't fit on the hood of 1 sl1200, correct me if I'm wrong. I'am not actively going to use the jog wheels and won't be using tone controls and line faders on the vci for mixing, of course I can assign them to other fx & stuff. But I feel I don't need all the real estate of the vci, and my setup wouldn't be the same as home(no ext dj mixer). But still for home use a all-in-one light-weight option would sweet as well... For almost the price of a Vci I can get the x1 + ext. mixer. The kontrol x1 seems a good option form because of it's small form factor and effective mapping + for my home setup a good beginners 2 channel dj mixer like the xone 22. And if I would play in clubs I'll just take the x1 which integrates well size-wise in a fixed setup of a small club dj booth, and be comfertably the same setup as at home. Do you guys have any comments or tips to help me out with my choice. Nice! | |

nayit ruiz jaramillo 01.03.2010 | If the decks are in battle mode the VCI fits perfectly on a dust cover. If they are in normal position the VCI over hangs at the left or if you position it in front of the dome the VCI over hangs the front by 3 inches. You need to put some material or the slipmats on the dust cover or the vci will slide and scuff the dust covers. If the decks are in flight cases then you have no problem you can just get a VCI and a laptop on a flight case lid if it it in battle mode (sideways). But not a dust cover, no way. I just tried it so im speaking practically. Hope that helps mate |
Marisha Fracis 01.03.2010 | Thanks for the input guys. I'm still leaning to the x1 and xone 22 for home and later on maybe an extra controller like the midifighter. If I will go for the xone 22 I will let you know how it feels. Sm00sh, I was still wondering if your vci + laptop + soundcard fits on dust cover of a sl1200. I imagined that it wouldn't fit. thanks! |
Vernon Vanderberg 20.02.2010 | I have not had the pleasure of using the X1 but it seems like a powerful set of controls. On the other hand I wouldnt trade in my VCI for anything out there at the moment. And I have yet to experience space problem with my lappy, vci, audio 2. But, either way you go is solid. I have also been believeing of getting the xone 22 for mixing externally at home parties if you get to muck around with one let me know how it sounds/feels |
Manda Hannegan 20.02.2010 | I recently bought an X1 and I really believe it is a solid controller. The mapping is logically laid out and with such a small form factor it can easily setup in any environment. There is even a mapping that allows you to use one X1 to control all four decks. The only thing I would recommend is that if you want to do quick beatjuggles then you will need something like the Midi-Fighter to go with it. |
