Midi controllers
Midi controllers Posted on: 14.11.2010 by Dillon Paganini So I would like to make a custom midi fighter that would be 4x4 with two line faders and one cross fader. I am looking at using parts that people use for Arcade Sticks but I am confused to the inputs that I would get on each pad. Does anybody know if these connections are do able with these boards for a midi controller?http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/pr...minipackit.htm http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/pr...cthulhupcb.htm http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/pr...-pac2board.htm | |

Dillon Paganini 17.11.2010 | This is what i was looking at...idk why I listed the mini-pac. I just need to figure out how to wire this damn thing http://www.u-hid.com/home/overview_board.php |
Dillon Paganini 16.11.2010 | sounds like fun. thanks for the help again! |
Graham Frazier 16.11.2010 | It's kind of just slice an pull, to get you the leads that you need. They have a full support community
on hale's site to help you out... http://community s.halemicro.com/ |
Dillon Paganini 17.11.2010 | I guess what I should be asking is how do I separate or connect the ribbon cable to an arcade button or a 10K liner slide pot? |
Dillon Paganini 17.11.2010 | I was looking at the UMC32 again and I actually kind of like it. I am confused though on how I am to connect the digital and analog controls. It looks like a clusterfuck. |
Dillon Paganini 13.11.2010 | alright sweet. thanks for the info man |
Graham Frazier 13.11.2010 | I-Pac and Mini-Pac is a no go for faders. The Chutulu, i'm not sure, but i'm guessing it won't work. You could just hack up a gamepad like this... Check out what Oskars has made with a gamepad in this post... http://www.djranking s.com/community /showthread.php?t=18627 If you search the community s you can find quite a few controllers that have been built off of gamepads. |
Dillon Paganini 13.11.2010 | Thanks for that definition it helps but I guess I am still confused if those boards can do the 3 faders or not. The hale looks interesting but is fairly expensive. |
Graham Frazier 13.11.2010 | Digital = Buttons/Switches (2 wires) Analog = Faders/Pots(knobs) (3 wires) Rotary encoders/endless knobs also use a digital signal, but it is different from the standard buttons, it uses 3 wires and requires some more circuitry. For your controller you might want to check out the Hale UMC-32... http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/pro...oducts_id=9108 |
Dillon Paganini 14.11.2010 | sorry shouldn't have said midi fighter. I want to make a midi controller sort of a project for myself. Its fun making your own thing even if it is just expanding off another idea. Plus if I get clarified on what is digital and analog on a board like this I could have more options later on. In the end it is a project I would like to take up like they did |
Graham Frazier 14.11.2010 | Why not just get a official midi fighter. I has 4 analog inputs so you can add up to 4 faders/knobs. And 4 digital inputs so you can add up to 4 buttons/switches. |
