Best setup for 200E/USD
Best setup for 200E/USD Posted on: 27.12.2010 by Fredrick Railey Hi, I'm locking for a unexpensive midi setup. I have already play few month with APC40 / UC33e / MPK25 / Kontrol X1. But sold after use. My favorite controler was the UC33e with ableton live. I have 200e for new gears. what is the best setup a this price ? (i hate hercule / S4 / vci 100 etc..., i hate jogwell xD). my idea was : - Launchpad / mpd26 but they cost 180e so no audio interface. or - NIaudio 2DJ + LPD8 x2 /or/ lpd8 + nanokontrol /or/ mpkmini / LPD8 + lpk25. I love dj set with ableton but tracktor is fine too (no need to warp / gain each tracks ). So i need a controler for both, i also make some comp with reason. sry for my bad english :$ thx for reading. | |

Twyla Hilst 27.12.2010 | Have you had a look at the M Audio X-Session Pro? it's really cheap, there's good mappings for traktor on this community , and you can easily add a soundcard with it on your 200 |

Pansy Shiveley 28.12.2010 | Have you checked the controller section? A lot of people have transformed their ps2 controller into midi controllers, some of them are probably using mac too. |
Fredrick Railey 28.12.2010 | ok i have saw a gamepad controller (ps2 gamepad) but i can't connect my gamepad to the mac Newt week i will try a old keyboard usb to arcade but it seams difficult too xD |

Fredrick Railey 28.12.2010 | yeah is between LPD8 and nanokontrol . I ll see tomorow in shop what i will chose But now i thing Nanokontrol + Launchpad (is it possible to change the nanokontrol box with a custom made in wood /w arcade boutom or it's very difficult ?) |
Pansy Shiveley 28.12.2010 | EDIT: confused nanoKontrol with nanoPad. Post is probably redudant now, but gonna leave be in case someone finds the information useful. LPD8 in a heartbeat. nanoPad isn't reliable, do a little google and you'll find tons of people having broken hardware. The LPD8 is still completely plastic, but it feels (and is) really solid. The LPD8 has knobs too, very useful. You can map those to control EQ and volume faders, and then you can map the 3 other presets (= 3*8 = 24 knobs) to control effects, filter, gain, ... or even super knobs. You have a few less buttons than with a nanoPad, but I can't see that being a problem: you've already got a launchpad with plenty of buttons. Better build quality, more useful features, and about the same (low) price. No brainer! |

Fredrick Railey 28.12.2010 | I thing i will buy a launchpad and a nanokontrol / Launchpad and LPD8. I hope is a good choice . Which is better between nanokontrol and lpd8 ? |
Gilma Marchini 27.12.2010 | I don't use ableton, so I can't say how it works there. If you use MidiKatapult there can be a few latency problems, but if you use custom mapping straight into Traktor there are no problems at all. I use mine for misc functions, like tapping bpm, skipping 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 beats, etc. So there isn't a lot to show in a video latency wise. I am yet to notice any latency, but MidiKatapult has crashed on me before, so I would stick to straight mapping to Traktor (a bit harder, but I still use Midikatapult). To collect my thoughts, it's great, but it won't funciton as clearly or as quickly as something like the Kontrol X1, but it's amazing for what it is (I'm selling my X1 and keeping the LP, which speaks for how much I like it O.o). |
Fredrick Railey 27.12.2010 | do you have some video with traktor / ableton launch pad ? Is it fast enough for switching between bank (fader / effect / cue) ? Does it perform well to play a dj set on ableton live too ? |
Gilma Marchini 27.12.2010 | Audio 2 DJ and Launchpad could be a nice setup. MidiKatapult has a lot of flexibility in building Launchpad layouts, which also has a good starting layout (including faders). If you do go the launchpad route be prepared to sit down for an hour or so to map out your own stuff. I use a launchpad currently and it's amazing, but as I said, be prepared to map it out for a while. Shameless self promotion here, I'm selling an Audio 2 DJ and Kontrol X1, so if either of the two fit in PM me. O.o |

Fredrick Railey 27.12.2010 | i have a macbook pro 15" 2009 but i have problem with my audio output (audio dropout because the output was domaged). i sold my UC33e because i was bored xD. So i don't know :/. I like artist such toxic avengers / Skrillex / Surkin. I enjoy mix fidget house / dubstep (foamo / mightyfools / jackbeats / etc...) |
Ralph Alderette 27.12.2010 | You already have the UC33? if you do, then go for the launchpad. if not, then get the UC33! |
Franklin Momany 28.12.2010 | I'm guessing you have a laptop or pc? If it was me in your situation I would go LaunchPad and Nano Kontrol. Then again I don't care about monitor cueing so I would use the internal soundcard. |
Fredrick Railey 27.12.2010 | plzzz i need some advice |
