Questions. featuring Rane sixty one and midi fighter. Posted on: 16.04.2012 by Brooke Meregildo So I just copped a rane sixty one and I want to get a midi fighter to control the sp-6 sampler for my drops and also my effects (echos, flanger, phaser, etc.) I wanted to know if anyone has tried the midi fighter with the 61 and if this a good match. Also I wanted to know (and forgive me if this an inane question) has anyone ever tried to mod a midi fighter so it can be a stand alone dj effects processor? I know its like taking two steps back with tech. these days but I do vinyl only partys every once in a while and would love to have a "analog fighter" with my set up. Thanks for your time and if I put this in the wrong section im sorry just let me know and i'll delete the post. | |

Brooke Meregildo 16.04.2012 | thanks I was just wondering about the standalone deal I dont use a lot of effects so thats why I asked. I appreciate the response. Im assuming the midi fighter can be mapped for serato sp-6 sampler. |
Danae Dumler 16.04.2012 | If you want a standalone effects processor you should probably just get one. If you have the money, the new Pioneer gadget may do just what you need. It doens't make sense to mod the midi fighter to do it since you'll need to get real hardware for the innards anyway. Another thing you could do is put the midi fighter on a computer running ableton VSTs and run your system through that for effects. That way you can spin vinyl and have the effects running off the computer, and then you can set up the midifighter as you wish. Of course it means you'll still need a computer even for your vinyl only party. If "the Bridge" was really useful you'd be able to do this all from serato but apparently you can't actually route serato channels through ableton effects under the bridge for some reason. But frankly I'd want knobs too if I was doing things that way, not just arcade buttons -- it's limited what you can do with effects just using buttons. |
