Finally got them both ready for paint.

Playoff tickets aren't cheap so I won't be dropping these at the painters for a couple weeks.

Thank man. I really do appreciate all the kudos even if I don't respond to it all right away.

This project is keeping me on edge as it requires modifying the deck plate, inner weight, rubber base, and the Dicer itself, with very little room for error. To say I am proud of this mod is an understatement.

Here is the first deck all primed up and ready to paint.

Second one will be ready later toevening . As I am taking a break to go watch the Caps beat the Rangers!

I am *very* impressed that you did that by hand. Really wonderful work!

I've been working with metal for years and year. Bonding the die cast aluminum with the new stock aluminum was a bit tricky. I was afraid I was going to have to weld. I hate welding aluminum and getting anything to bond to die cast aluminum is a tricky bitch.

I would love to do custom mods for people but I need to build my reputation a bit first.

I didn't want to deal with soldering out the ports to relocate them so I lined the dicer up so the ports are flush with the outside edge of the deck plate. This allowed for me cut the side of the deck plate and fit the outside edge of the dicer flush. I cut the top edge off the top side of the dicer to give it a nice finished look. The hinge plate which is located there will be cut in half to line up with the edge of the dicer and allow for a smoother finished look. The original plan was to cut the ports directly into the side edge of the deck plates, but for easier mounting purposes, and easier removal of the dicer is chose to leave the dicer PCB in the bottom part of the plastic housing it comes with.

On the next set I do, I am going to remove the ports and relocate them to the bottom of the turntable or to the side by the pitch fader. That will give me a much cleaner look and keep the wires out of the way.

How are you dealing with the ports and connecting the 2 dicers? Are you building 3.5mm ports into the TT?

I said to myself, I can do that and make it look fucking unbelievable. When done the decks will be painted white with a blue pearl finish and the standard blue LEDs.
I had to look up what you were talking about, the wood is an interesting concept but it looks kinda weird to me:

Settle down there. Just posting a pic of someone (Jazzy Jeff) that has this mod and its not a crap job (like the guy you got the idea from). No need to act like a little girl

I have thought about it in general, but seeing that most controllers I am familiar with would require much more room I didn't entertain the ideas very long. Also, I can't believe of any practical ideas which aren't covered in the dicer layout. Buttons on the side are out of the question, and DVS only allows for so many controls anyway. I am open to ideas if you have any.

One idea I've had for a bit now is to put a triangular pattern of 15 buttons where I am locating the dicers now. The pattern would look similar to this:

o
o o
o o o
o o o o
o o o o o

The thing I like about this pattern is I could make it to suit the customers needs interchanging Pots, Momentary contacts buttons, or double throw buttons, or even toggles.

Adding the usb out would be easy enough but I couldn't find any multicolored buttons small enough, and I don't believe I want to mess with adding an led for each.

Good stuff! Looks great!

Are you keeping the pair, or going to sell them?

Have you thought about additional controllers on the turntable?
