DJ setup choices
DJ setup choices Posted on: 23.08.2012 by Mira Kroninger Hey guys, i'm mainly producing with ableton live right now, but i wanna get into live djing. But i don't know which would suit me best - a dj controller (been looking at the twitch/djc.4) or a launchpad with like a nocturn (or something similar). The problem is, no matter which of the two i go for, i won't be able to learn how to use the cdjs if i wanna start playing in clubs - and i don't know if the promoters would like someone playing a set with launchpad setup. How do i proceed? Please advise D: | |

Evia Nitch 23.08.2012 | ....that depends. If you are profiling yourself as not playing a "DJ set" but a "Live set" they expect you to not use the CDJ's.... You may want also some faders/rotaries combined with launchbuttons on the same device. You could start with a Xone K2 and expand to a second if you like it. These are allso ok for Traktor an more traditional "DJ" style sets. Or buy a Xone 4D so you don't depend on what mixer the club has. It's originally designed for Ableton, but some don't like it, some love it.. |
Mira Kroninger 23.08.2012 | yea but the thing is i'm just starting out. they probably wont let me play with a launchpad setup then right? |
Bunny Sockel 23.08.2012 | If you have a large fan base and you can bring people in just because of YOU'RE music they will most likely let you play with whatever you want. Controllers are becoming the norm now sure other djs that only believe in cdjs and TT's while make comments about your gear but just ignore them. |
