So it would make sence for them to invest... They just have to flick through threads to what we all want... If anything they need this site up and running because this site contains an unbaised opinion of what we want in the dj world....

Not sure I agree MrP - does it not attract the NI user, like other sites attract users of other brands?

Isn't that like believeing DJTT should give me 'preference' because I bought my S4/X1/bag etc from them. That's my prerogative. That's voting with my $. I still feel like I would like to contribute more 'directly'. I'm not pissy about anyone having bought elsewhere. Its not a patronising gesture - its a vote of confidence.

Not sure its "hurts"... its just how things have developed.
But surely thats cus its NI that makes the software and hardware that "Most" (not all, i know) most people use.

I underdstand your point 100% but i believe its a bit more nuanced than just simple favouritism for commercial reasons.

EDIT: just read your last post, yeah cool.

A year ago i didnt even know of all this laptop/midi/Dj/controlerism etc was. But my life changed when a friend gave me his copy of traktor pro which i picked up an omni to partner it and my addiction grew. Wanting to learn more i stumbled apon Dj tech tools & have been observing from a distance since.

I recently spent my honeymoon in California, and one of my highlight was going to the Dj ranking s store in OC (the other highlights are to kinky for the younger subscribers) where i bought my S4 on the spot.Without this site i would never have have even known what an s4 was. So you all at dj tech tools have directly influenced me as a consumer. So therefore advertising is a strong option.

I would gladly pay a $5 yearly subscription as well

But in the same sense i can see why it may not be the way to go, as naturally you would lose your strength in numbers which got you here in the 1st place.

With the wisdom and support from so many on here im sure the answers will arrise.

Thanks to everyone on this site for your input.

Regarding the OP, I'm game. You vote with your currency and $5 is not much considering all the information / inspiration DJTT has provided me over the last year or so.

This site is a great resource, even the community generated content (via the community s) has helped me a ton.

the reason there are no ads is because the site does not want to look like theres any bias

As much as i love DJTT im inclined to agree with Lethal.
Plus, who pays and who doesnt?

It will be a matter of hours before someone starts an argument and uses "well i ive paid my dues, have you" and then its just gets pissy.

Unless the community itself is the product... but I'm fairly sure subscriptions will be undesirable to DJTT.

Companies buy specific ad space too, take skratchworx right now for example. It basically looks like the Numark NS6 homepage.

I find that hard to believe but oh well. Either way how could it not be beneficial? There is literally no cost to the site.

Radical Idea....... Lets leave things the way they are and get one with tooling with tech.

then again for shares... we would need some kind of legal agreement, something that states what the shares are in... would be nice for djtt to grow to a massive worldwide industry developing its own controllers almost like akai... with its own retail stores all over the world... then get bought out by a big company for a couple million so my 5 dollar share turns into like 50,000 dollars thatd be an ideal investment :O but we'd need to find out what our investment would be in first... as a non profit site.. if its just to help run the site it means if it goes bust we get nothing back just pay some guys wages for a while.

i believe shares is a brilliant idea, $5 a share is quite a bit but definately worth it, the only thing is what sort of initial admin would it need to go public, either way, shares or voluntary donation, im in.
