Famouse anoying Dj's - Why do they anoy you?
Posted on: 30.07.2012 by Bunny Collie
I thought i would make this thread as next month I am visiting cream-fields festival -ing , but i am try to believe what DJ'S to see and what to skip because they are either rubbish or just don't perform.

So I made a list of why I don't like these dj's

1. Annie Mac - She not a DJ yet she fly to Ibiza every year and fill up dance floors playing the same old chart rubbish queuing each track up so when one stop's the other starts.

2. Judge Jool's - Saw him live in ibiza , he was a massive drama queen because his setup was not in the write order after the other dj left , two guys won a chance to be with him in the booth, he hardly acknowledged them dident even say hi or have a picture then told them to go after 2 minutes.

3.Steve angello - Look at me I can create a track that 50% had already been made for me ( knas ) look how awesome I am, he cannot mix for sh*t and live i have hardly ever seen him touch the gear .

4. David guette - If you see him live all you are bound to here is the same old chart and him shouting " i fu*cking love you guys over the mike every 2 mins "

5.Tiesto - Sellout mr tiesto , went to see his club life set what a load of crap every cheesy bit of rubbish played in the charts with a bit of a trance electro drop or beat. Hes gone to the dark side of cheesy euro chart dance david guetta crap !

Best Dj's Ive seen ..

1. A Track - That boy know hows to put on a show a tear it up , he lets the crowd see everything .

2. Swedish house mafia ( Besides angello) they just put on a great show , fireworks and all i don't believe there a track that a least someone dousent like. They really know how to hold the suspense to a good drop and throw in something completely unexpected.

3.Booka shade - Being able to see them do everything live along with live percussion and chilled atmosphere is strangely surreal.

4. Deadmau5- I like his opinionated attitude about himself and other artist's which quite a bit makes sense, he just reminds me of the guys and myself playing video games and putting random bit and bobs together to make stuff and new sounds.

5.Altern8 - Two young guy back in the 90s who always wore boiler suites and face masks so they could not be identified as benefit fraudsters as they never new how long they where going to make it in the charts or as a one hit wonder .

Sorry, have to reminisce.

I can't remember much, but i remember...

1988 in Ibiza @ Amnesia (that time Amnesia didn't have a roof), 4am and "Can You Party" dropped by Todd Terry.

'twas amazing. Never experienced anything like it

fav DJ's seen live: steve aoki (not much of an artist but he knows how to get the crowd going), le castle vania, porter robinson, skrillex (respect him for when he did a moment of silence for the death of ryan dunn)

least fav DJ's: wolfgang, deadmau5, pryda (idk...it wasn't what i was expecting)

I thought they were quite well into the house scene, specially the deep stuff. That was the impression I got from my mate who went out djing there for a few months.
The bigger/well known clubs cater to the mainstream (i.e. whatever is popular/hot). As a business, I can understand their resaoning.

There are indeed groups of people that are into a more diverse sound, you just have to know where to look. For example, Grand Central, which has become my favorite club/venue by far, has booked acts including, but not limited to, fake blood, digitalism, boys noize, busy p, dillon francis, clockwork, jwls, munchi, kill the noise, just blaze, diplo and many, many more. Hard even held Hard Miami there.

For example, miami is comparable to that int he sense that it can be really mainstream, but can be avoided as well. IT has its pockets of underground (for miami), amazing music. The Boys Noize party was held in the back patio of an art gallery. That kind of sound is not very popular in miami compared to generic progressive house and the like. If Annie had played in one of the bigger clubs i'd imagine she would have played more generic and play to the crowd.

It's always funny. I grew up in Groton next to Chelmsford, and travel all the time into Cambridge. Have a lot of friends from Norwich and Coventry. Travel north up to Manchester fairly often for shows. One of my best friends lives in St. Albans. Just drove through Leicester and Oxford to get to a show the other day. Just happens to be, this is all in New England (Northeast USA) (Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island) :P Always felt I should travel to the ACTUAL places all these towns were named after lol.

Man, this line-up though. People I'd want to see:

Brookes Brothers
Avicii (Haven't seen him yet, need to check him off my list :P)
Example
Nicky Romero
The Chemical Brothers
Annie Mac
Crookers
Pete Tong
Benny Benassi
Eric Prydz
Mary Jane Coles
Sebastien Lager
John Digweed
Skream
Benga
ANDY FUCKING C
Flux Pavillion
Caspa
Doctor P
Koan Sound
Sander Van Doorn
Mark Kevening
Calvin Harris
Porter Robinson
Ferry Corsten
Laidback Luke
Wolfgang Gartner
Zedd
Groove Armada
Sub Focus
Shy FX
Knife Party
Richie Hawtin
James Zabiela
Kutski
Alex Kidd
Organ Donors

... besides not having much in the breaks department, that's seriously a line-up that is totally on point. Very similar to my iTunes library lol. It's going to be one of those great festivals where you have to make the terrible awesome choice between which awesome people to see, and which you're going to have to skip. I love and hate that choice

Either way, there is no use in picking people apart. Have fun and enjoy the music
The US nick so many place names (I know that's probably not their own fault).
Have a look at some of these lineups to get a taste for just how good WHP is....
http://www.thewarehouseproject.com/calendar.php

I'm more into deep/tech/techno so I'd be pretty much in the Pryda/Minus tent all weekend. Shame I'm not going but I'm off to Ibiza the week after so not all bad.

I can't even begin to...

Your list is personal taste. There are so many good producers and DJ's up there, it hurts to look at lol. Actually, running this by my close group of friends as something to potentially check out next year, we've been talking about traveling far for an awesome line-up. Probably the UK, not the AU one, but hey.

Really solid line-up there. It sounds like you like the producers who put on a show, rather than the DJ's. It's different being about the music, and about the show. It's an interesting thing.

with all of those dj's I'm influnenced more towards there older tracks than newer " mainstream tracks "

Definitely doing pryda Tent for Eric prydz, Jhon Digweed and Joris Voorne

then try....Benni Bennasi , Above and Beyond, Eddie Helliwell,Sander van doorn, mark kevening and funkagenda.

Chemical Brothers, skream and benga, richie hawtin dEADMAU5., Alesso,Sunery james,A track, fake blood,Axwell and ferry corsten
If you like Prydz then definitely see Leger too. Saw them B2B at a Cream birthday and they were awesome.
Wouldn't mind seeing Gareth Emery if I was going and Groove Armada just for the memories. If you really wanna get your moneys worth see Zabiela while you're there as well as Locodice while you're in the Minus tent. Reckon Gaiser will kill it too.

Good call on Chem Bros, saw them headlining it in 07. Fake Blood puts on a good show as well.

imho this thread can only lead to anger and you all know what happens after anger. suffering, fear, dark side blablabla.

everyone got their own taste in music and the problem with lists like this is, that other people tend to disagree. and sometimes this can get personal.

first warning: "keep it professional!"

Best sets I've seen were Zabiela and Joris Voorn. Catz & Dogz also delivered big time in their supposedly warm up set for JZ at a different evening . I guess you can go out all out warming up for him because he'll absolutely smash it when he comes on. Beyer that evening was also unreal.
Maya Jane Coles at the new WHP venue was decent and Locodice that evening /Cocoon in the Park. Luciano in Leeds too.

All these DJ's knew how to read the crowd exceptionally, specially Voorn and JZ. That's probably why they went down so well.
