My VCI controller is not working properly 8(
My VCI controller is not working properly 8( Posted on: 03.03.2010 by Patty Trupe So i purchased the vci 100 se, as well as the midi fighter, hoping to get a nice start in djing. Dont have a lot of experience but have a handful of friends that do dj. I also know i wont just drop this like some hobby i dont care about, because music is my life.Anyways the darn thing doesnt do anything yet. I followed the instructions on the video titled "Setting up Traktor Pro (Starter Guide)." Did everything sept the headphone thing because i dont have an external sound card. I didnt get to lower my audio latency either because its on the lowest setting, even tho in the video the setting could physically go lower. Im having the same problem i was when i tried the demo for traktor. When i play anything on either deck it sounds like ass. Some kind of horribly digitally distorted sounds come up, and the only thing that sounds musical is the percussion or beat. Im using my creative SB X-Fi card (10 in, 4 out) as my internal sound card and audio device in traktors settings. I also have not done anything with the midi fighter except import its .tsi to see if it would work (have yet to test it since idk what im doing). Any ideas guys? I would love to be able to mess around with this for a bit. Thanks | |
Al Henger 06.03.2010 | well, rather than restarting, you can just reset the VCI, which will unfreeze it. This isnt a good fix though. I've not experienced the problem myself, but I believe that some guys over on the thread I mentioned have. I'm not sure if there has been a fix for this yet unfortunatly. |
Matha Alvernaz 06.03.2010 | Sine, I'm running the latest mapping on snow leopard. I've played around with it some more, and but once it gets stuck in fader fx mode i have to restart everything. |
Al Henger 06.03.2010 | If you are on the latest mapping, I wholey recomend Fader Fx mode, but I like a fiilter 92 lfo in place of the delay (a la Eans X1 videos). The dedicated beatslicer and echo effects are really nice too, and a gater in advanced mode with just normal fx controls can add a lot to a song. |
Patty Trupe 06.03.2010 | Yeah me and my friend have been having crazy fun. I may not know how to use everything but juggling cues is fun specially with some bloody beatroots 8) thanks again. |
Al Henger 06.03.2010 | Hey man, i was in the same place as you just a couple months ago. I'm no expert now, but I like to give back to a community that has been so helpful to me when I see a problem I can help on. Have fun jamming out on that piece of kit man! My first evening with the vci was loads of fun, and I dont have the shiny SE arcade version, just a self modded silver. |
Patty Trupe 06.03.2010 | Oh ok didnt realize i had to go into juggle mode. Alright so i should be set everything is working properly, thank you so much for ur help, u have no idea how grateful i am. Ive had so many problems, asked for help, and had ppl blow me off after posting once or just cuz they dont want to help me. On other sites n such. |
Al Henger 06.03.2010 | Which mapping are you using? The arcade buttons will still function as play/pause/drop/ and other shit, until you put your VCI int juggle mode (2.5 mapping, its the 2nd knob on the top right) 3.0 mapping, its the top left button for cues 1-4 and 2nd button in the top left for cues 4-8. These are explained in the videos, which are pretty useful for figuring out what the mappings do. Busterlee, I'm gonna need more info, mapping, os, shit like that. There is a dedicated thread for bugs with the 3.0 mapping (its pretty damn long). Your problem might be a bit more out of my league, but hopefully someone can step in and save you, cause there are lots of experienced members here on the community (way more experienced than me). This section just gets overlooked a lot, I'm sorry its like that. |
Patty Trupe 06.03.2010 | Yeah im 1.0.0.25 how do i get the update so this is up to date? I could try the older mapping but i dont really need to, do i? Cuz i believe we found the problem, because its an older version, i dont wanna mess around with it. Never mind i found the update. Ill edit this post with any problems i run into, or to let u guys know i fixed my problem. EDIT: alright awesome got it working now the only thing thats weird is that i imported the vci100 se mappings, but it still has what i believe is the old vci 100 setup, the one with out the arcade button cues. Because the play button is one of them. Unless im doing something wrong. Thanks so much, im so happy this thing is at least working now. |
Matha Alvernaz 06.03.2010 | Just got my vci-100se and after a few minutes it seems to get stuck in fader fx mode. Any thoughts. Sorry if this is beginner shit or has already been covered. |
Al Henger 05.03.2010 | Dont worry about mapping it all yourself. that was just to make sure there wasnt a problem with your device, which apparently there isnt. To find out Which version, go to help: about traktor pro. It seems like you might not wbe updated to the latest version to me, since your control center seems to be different. In this case, the DJTT mapping will now work (although the 2.5 mapping will, and it is a class piece). http://www.djranking s.com/community /sho...713#post104713 Try downloading that mapping and giving it a shot, if you are not updated to 1.2.4 |
Patty Trupe 05.03.2010 | Traktor pro im not sure what version tho, how can i check? I just figured out how to map properly. Nothing for the controller is mapped. I was able to map the cross fader correctly and now it works. But idk what 99% of these mappings are, i tried deck cd-dj jog mapped to the jog disc spinning, but that didnt work, was able to map it to the touch sensitive button or what ever you call it but that just let me move slightly forward in the track and then when i released it, it would go back. Thanks again for ur time, ur the only person whos helped me really get anywhere. |
Al Henger 05.03.2010 | I had to go grab a bight to eat. What version of traktor are you running? |
Patty Trupe 05.03.2010 | What did you mean bout me not needing audio inputs i saw input routing and i havent touched that and its setup. Other than that idk what ur talking about. I dont see a controller manager, the only thing like that ive messed with is in the blank midi mapping tab or page. I also noticed that the vci 100 under the midi setup says emulated next to it, is that normal? I just tried importing the .tsi again, and when it asks what i want to import the check box or circle is faded out for the midi mapping option. All i get is GUI layout, effect settings, and all other preferences and settings. I tried mapping note C0 to one of my arcade cue buttons, but when i pressed the button it did not map the note. I didnt see any fader options under that drop down menu just stuff like CC, note C0 throguh C8, and pitch blend. Under keyboard mapping i found fader X, but when i click learn and move any fader nothing happens, and its now assigned to "???". U got to go to work or something? This community is kinda slow when it comes to responses compared to my paintball and car community s or even my video game community s. But ill gladly wait for you or any one to respond, cuz im at a loss and am just gonna keep trying to mess with stuff. |
Patty Trupe 05.03.2010 | didnt notice ur last post just did a quick reply without reloading the page. Lemme check up on the stuff u mentioned and ill get back to u in a few mins. Ok nevermind the sound problem i changed it from my sound card in audio setup to creative asio. No idea what that is or means. I have some other options but dont know which one is the one i should use. Ive got mp4, sl1, ttm 57sl, creative sb x-fi, and high def audio device as options. As for the controller still havent fixed that but im gonna try remapping it, since the keyboard works which i believe means the controller isnt mapped for some reason. |
Al Henger 05.03.2010 | Alright, Sorry about that line. I meant to say if there is any spdif, You dont need things that say that, and you dont need anything routed in audio inputs, because you are not using time code or the like. Your VCI appears to be working properly. Under the contoller manager, is there a dropdown for VCI 100? If so, is there any information there? If there isnt, try to assign some random function to a basic fader control like the x fader. When you press learn, move the fader. That should "map" it to whatever fader you moved. I would go into a little more detail, but I've got to run, i'm sorry. Perhaps someone else can help the guy out? I know how frustrating it can be to have hardware thats not working (took 2 weeks for me to get the lpd8 working on win7). |
Patty Trupe 05.03.2010 | 64 bit Yeah the midi light lights up when i do stuff but nothing happens to what i can hear playing. Even the touch sensative pads on the controller are working properly or at least thats what the LEDs indicate. Tried admin mode, then made sure no output options said spdif. "Make sure the inputs are disabled for no (under audio), Cause you dont need them." I didnt understand what u meant by that, can u pls explain. I clicked learn under midi mapping, but idk if im doing it right, im quite confused lol. Heres what my setting are incase theres any info u might need. audio setup sample rate 48000 hz audio latency 10.5 ms (cant seem to adjust this setting at all) output routing mixing mode internal output monitor not connected on either L or R output master speakers 0L & 1R output record not connected on either input routing input channel A, B, C, & D - 0L & 1R, digital in A, line in B, what U hear in C & auxillary in D input send not connected on either My midi setup has my sound card set as synth a & b emulated in midi output Vci100 is in input and output and is checked. And then midi mapping is completely empty. Under keyboard mapping it has stuff tho. And that works for the cues. I did everything in the video to setup the vci100 and then downloaded the tsi's and then uploaded them as instructed. /shrug thanks again for your time |
Al Henger 06.03.2010 | Alright. 64 bit or 32? You say the midi light is lighting up inside of traktor? and all the lights on your device are lighting up when you initially plug it in? (meaning its been recognized by your computer and whatnot). For fixing audio, First, try running Traktor in administrator mode (rightclick icon, run as admin). Then go to Audio setup. If there is any SPDIF devices in the output, kill those, you will just be getting space invader noise. Make sure the inputs are disabled for no (under audio), Cause you dont need them. To really test if the device is working, go to the controller manager, and try to maps something manually using midi learn. If that works, then you are having an issue with TSI installation. |
Patty Trupe 05.03.2010 | Well the midi light lights up when i use the controller, but when i adjust knobs or try to use cues nothing happens, and i followed the mapping video or what ever to the T. Im running win7 on a desktop i made myself. Dual core cpu with more capabilities than needed to run the craziest games on win7. All i do is play video games i run with 2 nvidia 8800 gt's i believe, so it shouldnt be a lack of hardware or power thats causing this. Im using the usb port on the front of my comp that i use for 90% of the stuff i do. Anything thats always plugged in or some kind of dock is plugged directly into the back. I dont own any usb hubs atm, waiting for them in the mail. Thanks 8) |
Al Henger 04.03.2010 | Dont even worry about traktor at this point. You need to make sure that your computer is recognizing the VCI as a USB device. We need some info: Operating system Type of system Are you using one of your systems internal USB ports, or are you using a Hub? Once you hit us up with that, we can get into more detail on the device. |
Patty Trupe 04.03.2010 | Maybe im doing something wrong but ive tried doing this multiple times now. And i was very careful to have the video and traktor open at the same time, and i pause every time theres something i have to do, so i dont miss anything. Why should i drop my sound blaster card. It is my internal and only sound card. No clue if my board has on board sound. But the reason i use sound blaster, is because i use a 5.1 surround sound system and listen to music every day almost all day if not at the end of the evening . I also spent a large chunk of money for this a while ago. What do you recommend i do or use instead, and why do u not recommend me using my current sound card? |
Adolf Hit 04.03.2010 | Drop the sound blaster for a start, your probably better off using your built in sound card for now. Go over the config video step by step, you must have missed something when configuring the TSI for the VCI if it is not controlling traktor |
Patty Trupe 03.03.2010 | oh forgot to mention i am not using any external sound cards im using this... http://www.itechnews.net/wp-content/...i-titanium.jpg |
Patty Trupe 03.03.2010 | Idk how to change the quality. Im using win7 and still dont completely know my way around the control panel like i do with xp. Can any one help me out here. Also will this affect the quality of my music, videos, or video games. Im using a 5.1 surround sound system, and am eventually gonna wanna hook up these speakers i have, to have a 7.1 system. I also dont know how to check my audio outputs, but would gladly give any info if im told where to find it. Ive done everything the video told me and have messed with traktor a bit before. Asked a friend, and cant get either the sound to work or the vci 100 to do anything other than make the midi light light up. So idk if thats normal because i couldnt control literally anything with the controller. Thanks for the help so far guys 8) |
Julissa Serrone 03.03.2010 | gotta see what your audio outputs are set to... BUT --- the sound that comes out of your computer has NOTHING to do with your VCI-100 working properly or not. If it controls the functions within traktor its working fine. Sound has to do with settings and sound card. Just believe its a little unfair to bash the product when not at fault. you could always set your master output to come directly from your computer with no external sound card and see if that works. |
Natashia Wigner 03.03.2010 | I had the same problem. My laptop uses a reltek Sound card. So hopefully it works for you. The problem was my card was trying to send 192k quality to traktor. Traktor audio setup was trying to do 48k So. You need to go to your sound control panel for your sound card and change it to 48k or whatever setting you have in traktor. Hopefully This helps you. It helped me. |
