How old are you? The great experiment to find out DJTT's age range :) Posted on: 03.01.2010 by Roni Batchan Hey guys,Following on from Xone's beatmatching debate - I'm really interested to see what the age range of this community is. There aint gonna be no judging atall - dont worry, just be honest, and it'll be interesting to see what happens. I'm going to put up another poll regarding people's experience in the industry, so if you could do that too, that would be awesome! Also, you could comment about how long you've DJ'ed for and your age underneath, would be interesting to see. Happy polling | |
Stanley Topoleski 23.08.2012 | i am 3.25 in dog years |
Reda Holdsworth 23.08.2012 | 39 25 years. But I did take a 5 year hiatus around 3 years ago. |
Alona Durfee 23.08.2012 | 25 about 2 years now... |
Eloy Kiepke 23.08.2012 | I'd been wondering this.... Especially the amounts of time people have been DJing. Affirmed sooooooooooo many of my suspicions about who in the community doesn't know WTF they're talking about, and who does. Any time someone sounds like they're full of shit, I'm just goinh to refer back to this thread and see how long they claimed they have been mixing. Although I'd like another poll about how long people have been DJing digitally vs in general. 23 transition from producing to DJing was a very slow gradual process... Started using Traktor in 2007, played my first gig after learning for about two years. Balls to the wall ever since. |
Edwardo Rothenberger 23.08.2012 | 44 years Started Djing in 1993. Got into dance music in 1987. Did the Ibiza, Boys Own, Full Circle thing. Stopped around 1998 after all the places I had been going to started playing Trancey cheese. Bought an S4 October '11 and have been loving many of the excellent tracks now available. Like to drop in some oldy house classics but hopefully not the over played ones. |
Ashanti Andreacchio 23.08.2012 | I'm 40 started DJ'ing in 1983-84 stoped when around 18 when I started playing in bands got back into DJ'ing 2 years ago and been quite bussy since then. I'm an EDM (House) DJ and also do some top 40 depending on where I play. |
Daniell Kosharek 23.08.2012 | 23 DJing since last year - 2011 |
Merideth Garnder 22.08.2012 | 28 here.... Been producing and singing since '00 (Pro Tools) Started getting into EDM in '06....got into using Ableton as DAW of choice. Got my first taste of DJing on my friend's CDJ1000 Mk3 / DJM800 setup....then got my own set in '09. Got a chance to try out Traktor on same friend's S4....liked it and got an S2 in '11. Now I'm believeing of changing it up again back to more production work.... |
Marquetta Sarnie 23.08.2012 | age: 17 started in 09 (was in usa, been to gig, tried cdjs, fell in love) |
Palma Hanslip 22.08.2012 | Age: 23 DJ Since: 12 Dabbled in DJ'n Since: I was able to walk! |
Stefania Herb 22.08.2012 | IM 35 and been dj'in since 2003 |
Celestine Porebski 22.08.2012 | I'm 28, started to really give DJing a shot 2-3 years ago (actually bought my first belt-driven turntables in 2001, but didn't really do anything with them apart from a little scratching back then - same goes for producing, have only been toying with it on and off over the years, but made my first steps with Fruityloops back then) |
Brooke Cary 22.08.2012 | Age: 17 Mixing since 2010. Started caring about the mixes in 2011. I've played drums/percussion since 2004 (everything from timpani in an orchestra to tenors/quads in marching band). Also been playing guitar since 2004. I believe the first artist to get me into house was either Deadmau5 or Justice. |
Karren Rantala 22.08.2012 | 38 (39 in 3 weeks) Started in 1991, and played for almost 4 years during High School / College, then I got serious and got a (serious slash boring) job at a consulting firm, so I quit playing. Started DJ-ing again at age 28 when returning to university, when I needed extra cash. Been spinning since, great job, love the extra income |
Freida Leash 21.08.2012 | 40 I was nuts over electro as a kid, Afrika Bambaata, Herbie Hancock, Dr. Dre's mixtapes, Kraftwerk and the like that would prompt someone to spin on their back on a cardboard box. I kind of strayed to glam rock, punk rock, then back as dance music had a revival in the early 90's with Future Sound of London and Dee-Lite and the like. I got taken to my first rave in '93 and dance music has consumed my major listening since, with Drum and Bass being the predominate genre from '97 or so. I started playing in '99 mostly downtempo and ambient, but gave it up a few years later as it was cost prohibitive, then a year ago so started again, playing mostly DnB and downtempo. |
Lilliana Perris 21.08.2012 | 33 Been at it since I was 17. |
Arline Receveur 21.08.2012 | 17 Producing since 07 and started mixing this year but having played piano and studied theory for 1-2 years aswell as producing since the age of 12 I didn't find it that hard to pick up. Influenced by Melbourne Shuffle Music :P |

Chas Giraldez 21.08.2012 | 19 Mixing since 2007 I practically grew up with house, techno and (real) electro. |

Racquel Dat 20.08.2012 | I am young, at 15. I admit it, and I don't have a lot of experience. I got into electronic last year when this heavy metal band called "Skrillex" started getting talked about a lot and never heard it. I quickly developed into liking house and electro house much more. DJ'ing for about 6 months, "producing" for about 8. Haven't left my, well, dorm room for a show yet. |
