Native Instruments, WHAT A JOKE THEY ARE!
Posted on: 23.10.2012 by Kaci Rentzel
Right, just got the Kontrol S2 this morning. I went through the setup like you do, installed everything and waited patiently. I registered my hardware serial. Then i went to register my software but can't, because every time i try the fucking SERVICE CENTER crashes. Windows says ' Service Center has stopped working'. I've restarted my laptop and it still does it. Anyone else had this problem? Also i was given a password to login on the native instruments webiste, it worked and so i changed my password to something i could remember. I tried my new password, it worked, but when i went to login at a later time it DIDN'T. Fucking piece of shit will not let me log in. I sent a forgotten password request to try another and that won't work either. It's an absolute fucking joke. Half tempted to send the whole wank piece of turd back and get something else.
I've sent 2 emails to N.I. I have heard their customer service is shit so i'm not expecting much.
Please help! Thank you.

Once you have Traktor activated I believe you're fine, you can download the updates from the website.

I've had similar problems on my old Vista computer, except it was with the older Traktor 2.0. Installing with Administrator priviledges worked for me.
Thanks i will give that a shot!

That's simply bollocks I'm afraid, talking right out of your aris. I've got an even number of Apple and Windows devices and Apple are certainly not angels - I'd even go as far to say they're now followers in their market sectors. I believe a wider problem with technology is people have become so accustomed to it 'working out of the box' which is what all companies should of course aim for, however people have lost the ability to fault find and rectify a problem, which usually takes just a few moments. I suppose I'm fortunate in that I come from the 'config.sys' and 'autoexec.bat' generation where getting things to work on PCs involved creating boot sequences in DOS etc. It makes me chuckle and a little sad that we're all thought to be 'tech savvy' these days but in the main we only know how to work devices out of the box and are stumped when we hit issues, the default option is to blame the company who produced it without taking a little time to read up and self solve first, which IMO solves most problems.

Any way just my thoughts..... also.....

Log in at NI, download the installer package. Extract the installer package to a known location. Or start the installer package as Administrator and install after extraction of the files.

My laptop runs everything else such as Reason and Ableton fine. It has 4gb ram, triple core processors, so it should be decent enough imo.

I've always found the kind of people who don't have the attention span or ability to do basic troubleshooting without raging often have some truly fucked in the ass computers.

I'll give NI customer service credit, i've had alot better experiences lately. And you can't blame the customer service when their management and programmers are really the problem

Honestly, the requirements on the box for any NI product should read OSX ONLY!!!!

Windows can be a bitch sometimes... Just out of curiosity, what are your pc specs? (although service center shouldn't give you those problems even if your pc was obsolete).

First off all, make sure Windows AUC is turned off. For Windows Vista look here and Windows 7 here.

Then right-click the control center icon and and start the application as Administrator. If it works fine, you can force Administrator mode at the properties settings of the applications (compatibility tab).

This happens on my computer as well -
Make a new windows user and log in as them, then open service centre or traktor and activate it, hopefully it works.
I remember lookimg at the NI community s and it seems like this happens to a fair few Windows 7 machine and similar problems on Mac. I believe there was a fix a user came up with but I couldn't be bothered as this worked fine. Still pretty bad form for a pro dj software company

It's probably more related to some program running in the background like antivirus or something like that than to it being a OS problem.
