I'm very interested in this possible maschine remix deck control.
i believe its like that with any form of music/art. i recently fell in love with deep house, but a few years ago if you showed me a deep house track, I would dismiss it as a boring collection of clicks and pops. it really just comes down to what your into. because of that i can see where the nay sayers are coming from, even though i really enjoyed the routine. that being said for a site dedicated to creative djing we are awfully unsupportive of it

My guess is that he was likely just using the maschine software, although if anyone has access to controlling remix decks with the maschine it would shiftee.

if you watch it on the youtube channel int he description IT QUITE CLEARLY STATES remix decks. So either the Z2, or of course FAR more likely is the Maschine is controlling remix decks. I'm pretty sure i remember reading something from an insider interview promising that the v2 software for Maschine (1.8 being the latest) was going to be something very special. Perhaps remix deck control is that 'specialness'.

yeah from what i can tell it looks like he just using the mapped first 4 slots. and possibley the drum kit he has on deck D first 4 slots and mapped as well...

Then looks like z2 is mapped to same aswell and cue points.

i could only hope its unlocked for remix decks but from watching it twice didnt look like it...

Well i am a dj because i love music and like to show that passion to other people with my mixes. Just because i dont do live scratching routines (because i have bearly heard any that really sounded great) doesnt mean i'm not a dj. Djing is a form of art and can be done however one likes it, if you like these routines, go for it, ill stick to my style.

That other guy is right though.

It's got nothing to do with it being a dubstep battle routine. They can be technical and still sound listenable, for example: -

And I believe this is awesome, even thought it's dubstep and someone as ancient as me should be waving my old man stick and shouting "turn that bloody rubbish down and put some Cliff Richard on": -

I've been into battle routines since DJ Cheese won the DMC in 1986. I listened to that on the Robbie Vincent show actually in 1986 and have followed the DMC, NMS, ITF, IDA etc. ever since. I've been running a community aimed at battle/scratch DJs for getting on for 8 years. And I don't like this cos I'm "old" according to spencer4hire? GTFO of here. It's just an opinion, but at least it's an informed one. No disrespect to Shiftee as a DJ, cos he's great and miles better than I will ever be, but this particular routine - I ain't feeling it one bit.

The art of scratching is one of a kind. Mad props to the old school feel he throws out.

Going back to the video. There are two things of note concerning potential updates: A) MK2 Remix Decks and B) Flux Mode with DVS.

His taste in music isn't the same as yours, and your opinion on taste isn't the same as his. Everyone looses the internet.

However, Shiftee is rad to the max! Its experimental, and magical if you ask me. But I expect no less from him.

I kid. But seriously, those comments really don't improve community conversations they just detract from them.

He voiced his opinion in a way that wasn't insulting. I have no problem with that.

i mean yeah, its impressive and ill probably never reach his skill in scratching and controllerism but isnt the music what actually counts when being a dj/live performer? i mean im all for turntable/controller routines as long as they sound good, but this somehow just doesnt... wouldn't listen to it if it was on my ipod...
however, still mad skills and big respect.

My favorite part was when he was slapping the record. Was he actually skipping a beat in time when he was doing that? Or did it just sound that way?

I'm not 100% sure it's just mapped to the first remix deck slots. It looks like he is doing more with the routine than just the four decks. Specifically the end point where he begins to spazz out. NI did a good job in the editing to make it very difficult to discern.

After watching it a third time I'm more interested in how he got Flux Mode to work with DVS!

There's going to be a flood of people believeing the Maschine has remix deck control now. I've just watched it once, but I believe it's just the first slot of remix deck control which is midi mappable.

These people stay up 3 days in a row without sleeping and put 200% dedication into what they do. It's literally all they do. You will need a lot of self motivation to get this good. Spend every waking minute in front of the turntables. It really comes down to how bad do you want success. I believe we all could use some motivation like this. Awesome video!
