Deep House/Bass Music
Deep House/Bass Music Posted on: 01.02.2012 by Kelley Mendrick Just wanted to get a rough idea on what people's thoughts on deep house and bass music are? SBTRKT, Pearson Sound, Disclosure, Boddika, Blawan, Maya Jane Coles, Eats Everything, Julio Bashmore, Mosca, Catz n Dogz...Are these all artists popular with DJTT community members? I just wandered what the general feel for music here was! P.S if you are into this kind of music leave some feedback on my quick 15minute mix! Thanks http://soundcloud.com/tukker_uk/malfunctionbassmix Peace, tukker.
Salvatore Husley 18.05.2012 | Saw that Blawan set on the live stream. It was phenomenal! He actually made me want to change my collection. Definitely in my top 5 Boiler Room Sets. Download the set here http://www.mediafire.com/?a9a6jorkdp9v7bd

Brande Baiocco 18.05.2012 | I've been watching this thread grow waiting to see if anyone else asked this question. Would you guys class this as Bass Music? Cheers |
Birgit Gondal 17.05.2012 | i'm scared i'm going to spend my entire weeks wages on vinyl of tracks from that blawan set |
Birgit Gondal 17.05.2012 | Blawan going hard on boiler room here, outstanding! http://boilerroom.tv/blawan-65-min-mix/ |
Lela Umanskaya 15.05.2012 | I really like the Dirtybird stuff that was posted earlier, Waiting by Christian Martin is simultaneously banging and groovy. It's funny that I got into DJing because of Electro House but more and more I'm creeping the Tech House and Techno sections of Beatport. |
Salvatore Husley 15.05.2012 | Bicep going off on a deep house tip on BR. Not much time left. http://boilerroom.tv/live/# |
Salvatore Husley 15.05.2012 | Forthcoming on Swamp (I believe shortly) is Dusky's Flo Jam |
Tyree Mccanney 14.05.2012
Roxann Hermann 02.05.2012 | I find that too aha. I believe thunder bay is just about the only hudson mo song i can mix easily and cleanly.. Afterlight big rustie isnt too bad, but still never too smooth! |
Khadijah Wojtach 01.05.2012 | No problem You gave me a few ideas on how to mix it up with this new style of music. I'll be uploading a new mix within this week too. Yeah I heard it a few weeks ago, pretty cool mix, a lot of hip-hop which I don't normally listen to. Exactly, Hudson Mohawke and Rustie goes pretty well together though (not that it's that surprising). And: Sorry if this was already posted: |
Tyree Mccanney 01.05.2012 | Cheers man! Yeah I fucked up on that blend, there was another one that was a bit messy but I was pleased with how it came out overall. I was believeing of making it 3 separate mixes for the different genres covered but I like a bit of a musical journey in a mix. I totally agree on Rustie being difficult to mix, same with Hudson Mohawke and that whole 'Post-Dubstep' sound. Did you catch his essential mix though? http://soundcloud.com/rustie/essential-mix-bbc-radio-1 It's quality! |

Salvatore Husley 01.05.2012 | And some fresh Swamp81 material but as usual, we never know when this stuff is going to get released : Zed Bias: Trusta: |
Salvatore Husley 01.05.2012 | Girl Unit is coming out with another EP on Night Slugs: Feeling this one: Forthcoming Jam City! |

Random X 29.04.2012 | Loving Bashmore and Ware! |
Roxann Hermann 29.04.2012 | @Captcha, 100% agree with all of those too, love it. XXXY Bondax |

Roxann Hermann 29.04.2012 | Excuse me if theres a thread for this all ready, but i cant find one! Im talking about the electronic bassy where youre never quite sure of the genre.. but always sure it sounds heavy. Heres some examples Ive got tons more but i dont want to stick them al here in one go aha. In short, my current favourites are Mosca, Bondax, Disclosure, Hudson Mohawke, Jamie XX, Julio Bashmore, James Blake, Ifan Dafydd, Rustie and XXXY, to name but a few. Anyone on this sort of thing, and have any more to reccomend? BASQUE |
Deeanna Gripshover 17.04.2012 | Thread link for new mix posted in Mixes and Productions community

Tyree Mccanney 13.04.2012 | Put this mix together a good while ago as a short intro to some of the many aspects of the whole 'UK Bass' thing. http://soundcloud.com/joshlomas/an-short-intro-to-uk-bass My favourite labels for this kinda stuff atm and Young Turks and Numbers. At the moment i'm loving 2 Bears; and Disclosure and Mosca |
Georgianna Eurick 14.04.2012 |

Araceli Georgis 11.04.2012 | I made a mix about a month ago of tunes toward the housey end of this sound. Tunes from Julio Bashmore, Coat of Arms, Audiojack and others http://soundcloud.com/funlife/beats-bobs |
Alfred Takala 10.04.2012 | Anyone post some stuff that might be similar to maceo plex, eats everything or claude vonstroke. Im really loving Harry Wolfman, massive trakcs http://www.beatport.com/track/dont-y...al-mix/3282629 anyone can post some stuff like this? Merci. |

Salvatore Husley 10.04.2012 | Nice mix. Jam city aqua box always makes me feel like I'm in a spaceship flying through some tunnels. |
Deeanna Gripshover 10.04.2012 | Hey guys, did this mix which is heavily influenced by this thread. Thanks for all the input and opening my eyes to the future instead of being stuck in the past playing Old School Garage. Enjoy http://soundcloud.com/daw-z/new-mix |
Roni Batchan 31.03.2012 | oh, and we play proper deep house too.. well, all that stuff from the 'D' baby (moodymann, theo parrish etc etc) |
Roni Batchan 31.03.2012 | BIG UP!!! I've been gone for a while from DJTT but now I see there's some bass tings goin on here, that's sick having flicked through this thread, everyone's got the right idea - Swamp 81, Night Slugs, Hessle Audio, Hotflush, Hemlock, Dirtybird, Numbers, LuckyMe, Fade To Mind, R&S Records etc etc etc lots of good stuff here.. Xlr8r.com is bang on it's bass music if you want a good blog. I'm with a music collective here between Glasgow and Edinburgh, currently with a blog and radio show, DJing at other people's evening s at the moment, but running some big parties of our own starting in the summer (fingers crossed) - if you're into Bass music, that's mainly what we're about (along with a deep house crossover..) the blog's here and you can link to all our past radio shows here ..all with full tracklistings blah blah blah. but check this out for starters (and let me know if you like it!) we base our shows on the rinse.fm format - if you like this music as shane says, check that out (i rarely don't listen to it) http://soundcloud.com/belch/buff-basslines-show-5 |
Salvatore Husley 30.03.2012 | Most of the producers and DJs that are on the forefront of this sound play on Rinse.fm. Redlight (Lobster Boy), Oneman (502 Records), Bok Bok & L-Vis 1990 (Night Slugs), Pearson Sound & BenUFO (Hessle Audio), Leofah (Swamp81), Jackmaster (Numbers) and some others have regular shows on Rinse. Either weekly or bi-weekly. These guys will be playing the latest tracks from their labels as well as each others. You can hear tracks months before they get released. Let me tell you THIS IS THE STATION you should be listening to if you like any of the tracks I have been posting. All shows are recorded and can be downloaded off their website rinse.fm |
Shonda Soulier 29.03.2012 | It may have been another thread but somebody turned me onto Ready Mix Records??? Their 'Already Mixed' compilations are pretty great. |
Sima Schukei 29.03.2012 | There's a great turntable.fm room that caters to this style: http://turntable.fm/future_garage_2s..._dubstep_grime Also check out the podcasts on http://boilerroom.tv/ http://soundcloud.com/hammuh |
Rochel Tellefsen 26.03.2012 | Heres the old Bass music thread: http://community .djranking s.com/showthread.php?t=32614 Also, I recently saw Egyptrixx and Martyn for the Red Bull Music Academy Mutek tour. All I can say is WOW! It was an amazing show, I honestly did not know much about Egyptrixx so was there primarily to see Martyn but he ended up blowing me away. His use of reverb and delay during his mixes was perfect, made his set feel more like an hour long track seamlessly morphing into new sounds than just track into track mixing. If any of you get the opportunity to see either of them, GO! Here is a great video from their Vancouver show (I saw them in Calgary the next evening ): |
Khadijah Wojtach 27.03.2012 | Great thread, lots of good tracks. I remember there being another "bass" thread, but I can't find it. |
