One of my faders (Player A) is jumpy. When I raise it, it doesn't move constantly but like I said, jumpy. Is it a hardware or a software problem and what can I do against it?

Does the fader wiper flop around in the fader housing. Does it feel the same as the other faders? If it feels different and flops around from side to side or up and down then it's replacement time.

Sounds like a dirty fader to me. You can try cleaning it. I'm not sure if this helps any with a VCI-400, but the principle would be the same. I would double check on the types of faders in the VCI to make sure they don't need to be cleaned a certain way or that this way won't damage them.
