Does anyone else think this is AWESOME? :) Posted on: 30.06.2012 by Noriko Lebowitz A video I found of Laid Back Luke recreating "One" by Swedish House Mafia with a loop and pitch fader. I thought it was insane! Thoughts?

No I'm sure some people dig it, just not for me. Years back I watched DJ Dopey recreate Iron Man using the pitch fader on his TT, I don't even like turntable-ism and I though that was cool. Also, that UMC video is a fucking joke. If you're going to try to show off at least try to do so in tune.

This is why I live in Miami and I've only been to Ultra once for 2 hours. I saw Carl Cox do a mediocre 30 minute set and I saw Paul Oakenfold storm off the stage in the middle of his crappy trance set. The rest of my minutes were spent wandering aimlessly searching for good music. You will not steal my ca$h again Ultra.

Molly Moszer 03.07.2012	I thought it was a great demonstration of his skills, like sure it doesn't fit perfectly into the mix but it still sounded pretty cool and I for one know I would have gone crazy if I had seen it live. I obviously don't wanna hear a set full of just that but for a minute or so it's cool.

Erich Vallabhaneni 01.07.2012	I kinda dug it. He did the beat to seven nation army first, and I believe it would have been better to just go to The Glitch Mob's SNA cover, but I thought it sounded pretty cool and as long as he's having fun and so is the crowd who are we to judge.

Brunilda Kora 01.07.2012	It's not difficult - but it takes A LOT of practice. Don't forget, you've got the whole pitch range (+/-8% on Technics) at both speeds (33 1/3 and and 45) - that's a LOT of possible notes! A lot of dance tunes (in fact, tunes in general) only use 3 or 4 notes in their melodies. Find a tune where the notes are within the range of the ones reproducable with a tone (or ploop) and the pitch range on TT's and start practicing. I'm guessing it was pretty easy to work out - LBL sounded like he'd figured it out that day, while Dexta NAILED every note and tweak and clearly had practiced for hours over a period of (I suspect) months.

Noriko Lebowitz 01.07.2012	Fair enough, but I really don't believe all of those people were there to see him. I really believe they were more excited to hear a popular song being introduced like that. Some of them might not have even cared who he was.
