Bunny Collie 26.07.2012 | i am leaning more towards the acer if the i5 should run everythin ok , it |
Bunny Collie 26.07.2012 | From reading the reviews the asus sounds like a much cheaper build quality with the keyboard bending in , not sure as the i5 has 8 gb but the i7 has 6gb Acer General Information Processor Intel |

would it be better to run an i5 with 6 gb of ram or a i7 on 4 gbram ?
Either an i5 or i7 will run pretty much any application you throw at it. And deffo would not buy ram as an upgrade direct from the computer manufacturer unless it was a bargain (+ |

Erica Charvet 26.07.2012 | The Acer in that comparison would likely be a better laptop for DJ'ing. Few programs are able to actually utilize four cores. In most cases, You're really better off with a dual core processor at a higher clock. I'd rather go with a Core 2 Duo Extreme at 3ghz over a low-end i7 any day. Regardless, all the laptops you're looking at are consumer level laptops. They are built cheaply and have much higher failure rates than their corresponding business models - which is why I suggest to look around for a good used business notebook. And being consumer notebooks, they have low res screens, which is a bit of a deal killer for me. But any of the laptops that have been mentioned will run Traktor without a hitch. |

Brenna Welbes 26.07.2012 | Yea... typically, at this price point, solid build quality is a rarity. Kudos though for checking up on user reviews. That's the way to shop! Personally I wouldn't worry to much about RAM, since it's an easy upgrade. I'd probably base my decision on average positive user reviews. |

Georgianna Eurick 26.07.2012 | Yeah as I'm saying I've been rocking this for 2 years with 8 gigs ram upgrade and CPU never get past to 10% http://www.notebookcheck.com/Test-Ac...k.29489.0.html So any i5 laptops with new ivy bridge processors should be fine. And for that Asus, it is ugly as fuck it looks like you've borrowed it from your little sister. |

Georgianna Eurick 26.07.2012 | Everybody has it's own favourite brand. I would never choose Asus over Acer for example. And to the OP I can run Traktor and Ableton Live same time with my 2 years old i5 8gigs ram Acer. |

Brenna Welbes 27.07.2012 | Little know laptop brand Lenovo makes very solid laptops at a very affordable price. I would highly recommend checking them out. For example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834246484 |
Lisa Lochotzki 26.07.2012 | You can upgrade the RAM later if you want and it's not really expensive... the CPU, well you're stuck with. I5 run perfectly though. |

I have been looking at some acer's in my local pc world , the guy said one of the latest should run it quite good.
Back OT though For a Windows laptop for music personally i'd only consider a Lenovo possibly Asus depending on the model, The Lenovo's are Not the prettiest of machines but they chug on for years and years. |

Sylvia Greener 26.07.2012 | From what I've experienced I would recommend more CPU power (25Ghz upward) and maybe 8 GB Ram if this is still affordable. Building in some SSD, at least for booting is also enhancing your system a lot but I assume this will not be possible with your budget. |
Yukiko Beauvil 26.07.2012 | I believe most of the current laptops above 500$ range will be enough for your needs in terms of traktor/s4/maschine etc. My current laptop which is an Acer, Core2Duo 2ghz, 4gb Ram etc still runs traktor without hiccups. I did gigs with it, and it never crashed on me. If you take good care of your laptop, I believe it won't cause you any problem. |

Cassie Sangermano 26.07.2012 | I have this laptop: Asus X53E http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Laptops/buy...-Laptop/779709 (Although mine only has a 320gb hard drive, this has a 500gb). Fantastic PC, i7 processor, decent amount of ram, stays cool, screen is good, highly recommended for |
Lashawn Maycock 26.07.2012 | I've got a Dell XPS15 (2011) which works like a charm, only 500 quid ish from memory. Recommend that. |
Latoria Kavulich 25.07.2012 | i have a bottom of the range acer 5534. its served me well for the last couple of years. no issues with multiple midi devices plugged in and it gets a thrashing. |
