Hey DJTT, Is it me or dont you believe there should be student discount? i know there must be a lot of people on here who are under the age of 16 who is always tryna get money for this expensive hobby. i kow i am.i work my ass off to get my DJ gear nd the funny thing is...i dont even have a full deck.i believe DJTT should open a student discount for people who are in school and trying to make a life outof DJing. i knowthat i have a huge passion for DJing but i cant affford all the stuff i need. i a 13 and have been inspired to DJ and i have full support from my family but i have been told i have to buy my on things if i want them so i hav to find house work and things to do for other people wich there isnt a lot of for me. so oes anyone else believe there should be student discount?

Looking back to be honest the fact I didn't have to pay rent, pay for food, pay for taxes (in the UK council tax for example), pay for internet, pay for a phone, although I did pay for a mobile, pay for TV and utilities meant that from 13-18 I was probably better off than I was from 18 - 23.

There are 2 x1's on Guitar Center used right now for $99.99 each (If only I didn't have to pay rent/buy a new crankset)

With it you can mix music not just play with buttons on a controller like most "controllerists" do not caring about how it sounds. Spend your time getting to know the music and finding your style within it, because when you start to play clubs I guarantee no one there cares how quickly you can press buttons or whether you are performing a live remix, they only care about the sound coming out of the speakers.

wow 13, kids these days are so advance already know what's djing all about at such a young age.

when i was at that age i save up my daily pocket money to buy more cassettes & a mini compo, a pair of in-line skate & a bicycle...my childhood was 70% outside playing, getting hurt in the process but i believe it's fun. i made a pact with my parents to reward me more money if i got an A in school test, there is where i gained most loose change.

just for sharing...good luck in your djing endeavor!

keep downloading the same torrents and keep sounding like everyone else...

Probably shouldn't be so proud of it, especially on a community that has zero tolerance for pirating.

DJ gear is expensive, it's true.
I would understand that a brand makes student discount (Apple comes to my mind) because the world in general, and especially in the youth, is driven by trends, and if they become more affordable, MacBooks and stuff will become a trend.
That was the idea Apple had, and for sure it worked.

For DJTT, or any reseller, I don't see the point of offering a bargain on the products they sell. More sales ? I don't believe so.
DJing is really specific and "selecting". You get in the thing or you don't, but you're not half in it.
If you're not in the thing, you don't spend money. If you are, you do.

It's a bit harsh but that's how it works. And thanks to technology, as mentionned above, a minimalistic (and cheap) setup can do the job, before you had to spend thousands of cash to be able to mix 2 records..

Student discounts are given for the tax breaks and for the fact that, after education, you'll be providing the nation and industry excellent services. Can't see how either of those apply to DJing, so I don't see the point of such a discount. Work hard, save monies, try to befriend some other DJs and see if you can practice on their gear (don't just befriend them to use them though - best not to burn any bridges). Go to school too, that'll get you more gear than you can imagine when you're done. Good luck

agreed haze. i jam with just the x1 and house mixer all the time

I believe you want things just to want them.....I say you stick to something small and master your craft with just that, then later little by little you can add things. I've seen plenty of Traktor DJ's play with just a mixer and ONE X1. Nothing else (Stefano Noferini and Carlo Lio come to mind).

The other thing is DJTT is a VERY small store in comparison to places like Guitar Center or even some of the big stores on eBay that can afford to give discounts. Buying from DJTT you are supporting the community and community .

My recommendation still is, master what you have with and THEN add.
