Keeping your kit clean.
Keeping your kit clean. Posted on: 04.06.2012 by Lillia Datson I was wondering how people kit their DJ gear nice and Shiny? Obviously during gigs and what not, beer gets spilt (and contrary to the crane stand advert, i DO cry over spilt beer!) so how do you lot keep your gear fingerprint and dried beer free afterwards?Another note, has DJ Techtools Considered a little Cleaning kit/maintenance kit for hardware? Kit well cared for lasts a lot longer after all! | |

Rosina Steinkuehler 05.06.2012 | I have found that keeping a towel on top of the gear when not in use helps keep the dust levels down. Having 3 deck savers would be a PITA to remove and put back every time I wanted to use my gear. |
Nedra Fresneda 05.06.2012 | little OT but still relevant |
Laure Cantara 04.06.2012 | Micro Fiber Towels. Lifts dust and if machine washable. Can't go wrong. Great for computer screens too. |

04.06.2012 | i love my decksavers for keeping my gear dust free. |
Deangelo Boender 04.06.2012 | Word to the lint free cloth, but I just use a dry cotton wash cloth. I like my musical gear to have some character to it, a scratch or chip just makes it mine, but grime and abject filth is gross. |

Claude Koveleski 04.06.2012 | I use a paint brush to rid the dust then followed by a microfibre cloth and plexus spray. This shit is the best stuff I've laid hands on for cleaning plastics. http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/frames.html |
Brunilda Kora 04.06.2012 | That Cyber Clean gear looks perfect for cleaning a mixer. I bet it does a BLINDING job on vinyl, too. I use 3 things to keep my stuff clean: A small handled duster A paintbrush Microfibre cloths I'll be adding Cyber Clean to that soon. |
Latoria Kavulich 04.06.2012 | pull off the knobs and drench with glass cleaner |
Addie Engbrecht 03.06.2012 | I always cover my stuff w/ a blanket when I'm not using it, mainly because it's really hard to clean out dust when they get into the fader slots and the gear , but when I do need to clean the exterior, I just use damp/moist paper towels. Not sure if it's the best way, but it's been working for me |

This is my BCR.
There are many like it, but this one is mine! My BCR is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My BCR without me is useless. Without my BCR, I am useless. I must use my BCR true. I must mix better than my enemy who is trying to out mix me. I must beat him before he beats me. I will... My BCR and myself know that what counts in DJ-ing is not the music we play, the noise of our soundcards, nor the mixes we make. We know it is the hits caused by the shockwaves of atmosphere that count. We will hit... My BCR is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its midi cc, its knobs, its buttons, and its on the fly absolute to relative switching. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage. I will keep my BCR clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will... Before God I swear this creed. My BCR and myself are the defenders of my music. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but PEACE. |
Georgianna Eurick 03.06.2012 | I use Swiffer. They're absolutely magical!! http://www.swiffer.com/products/swiffer-dusters |
Ned Somerset 03.06.2012 | http://www.geekalerts.com/u/cyber-clean.jpgthis works awesome on pads or any gear. I use it on all my stuff. gets in all the tiny grooves and picks up any little piece of dust. highly recommended. I buy mine at walmart. Im sure they stock it at most big outlets. |

Ok Moroski 03.06.2012 | Three words: Lint free cloth. If you have a macbook they come with one or you could pick one up from a sunglasses store like Sunglass Hut. These cloths are great at taking away dirt/grime while not scratching the item you're cleaning, like the screen on a MBP or your mixer. The cloths themselves are easy to clean as well. |
Reda Holdsworth 04.06.2012 | electrostatic dry swifter for dust. I buy all the gear. My wife buys all the cool cleaning gadgets. Not a bad trade off .... |
Sylvia Greener 04.06.2012 | I try to keep it clean using the vacuum cleaner. The problem is you have to be careful with cleaning glass or transparent glass plates as these tend to get scratched from cleaning. Better way would be using some microfiber cloth but this takes far too much time. |
robin loo 04.06.2012 | For dust a paint brush does the trick quite perfectly.. Otherwise canned air.. |
Matt Kane 04.06.2012 | i don |
Lillia Datson 04.06.2012 | Ah i have a solution for that! Use a dry paintbrush (unused obviously!) Gets in really well between EQ Knobs and faders etc. |
Jolynn Schroyer 04.06.2012 | I have a problem with dust. After i unboxed my s2. It gets dusty. I just wipe it down with toilet paper. But that leaves like white fuzzys all over. Not sure how to clean it that well. |
