About to playing a show this friday, and I need all of your help!! Posted on: 30.08.2012 by Madelene Witek My buddies parents are going out of town for the weekend, and were gonna have a show at his house this friday.Going to be a LOT of people there, like end of the summer party. Upstairs we are moving all the couches to the wall. I'll be playing from a table with an X1 and a Mixtrack Pro out of Traktor Pro 2.5. He has a home system, (a 15" and 13" sub, and then the rest of the mids and whatnot), I believe it is called Yamaha Infinity, and the receiver is HTR-5730, we are sound checking tomorrow, I am pretty confident it will be loud enough. But in case, we are bringing in my buddies powered floor speaker (~110V/60Hz/128W), It's the budweiser promo tower speaker. And I have a little system at my house, just a lot of home systems. (more info to come on the speakers) The Mixtrack pro has the two sets of outs, how can I use more than one in case we set up two systems from each? We would like to use two laptops to run Milkdrop into his projector, and then maybe aim the projector at a disco ball and see how that looks. And we have a couple black lights, strobes, Is there a guide, or does anyone have experience in setting that up? One computer that will be running traktor is Macbook Pro, and the other running milkdrop to the projector will be windows. Can this work? He has neighbors, would it be a good idea to ring their doorbell and let them know a day in advance and let them know whats going on? Ask them what times would be okay to crank it? Offer earplugs haha? Also, in the VERY off chance cops end up there, would they take my audio gear ? Is that common? Everyone at this house, could be anywhere between 30 to even 60+ people there. All Underage, drinking, smoking, etc. We will be serving alcohol, buying a bunch of cheap vodka, mixing drinks and selling for like $.50. Is this an absolutely atrocious idea? We will be in Sudden Valley, Washington. Huge space between houses, and if there are any problems security of the Valley (Whom we are acquanted with, and are generally very lax and cooperative) would be notified long before police. Tips? Ideas? Help? Thanks. Couldn't believe of any more experienced party throwers than the DJTT community! | |

Geri Jarra 16.09.2012 | hate to dig this up, but I was randomly believeing about this thread today and looked forward to hearing the outcome. OP?? |
Erich Vallabhaneni 04.09.2012 | hoping to see some news/pics sometime today or the OP is in the clank |
Ossie Pooley 04.09.2012 | Police tend to jump on these things fairly quickly but I don't believe that they'd have a problem with such a small party. In London they stopped my party just after 11PM! Lesson to be learnt; don't make it a public event on facebook. =P |
Jonas Hanway 04.09.2012 | It's now Tuesday and no report back... Time to speculate the outcome. Police raid? Neighbours got pissed off and attended the party wearing a white mask and a machete? Still going on? |
Shalon Jaranilla 04.09.2012 | I know it's my cunning way of payback, but i couldn't leave this one. |

The invitation will make them feel like asssholes if they want to call the cops. Try to start the party early like 9PM so the neighbors get use to the music and you gradually increase the energy. You don't want to start blasting at 11PM when they are getting ready for bed. Unless you bring 50 drunk people to the sound check you won't get a realistic idea of the sound levels. I believe that sound system will be o.k. but not loud enough if the peoples voices get really loud. Make sure to control the volume. If you go too loud, too early, the people will start shouting their conversations over the music and you will have no headroom. Have fun and report back. Cheers ! > |
Lillia Datson 01.09.2012 | Lock box for your money and a taser for anyone near your decks! And electrical tape to keep all your wires in check, or to the flor so no one trips on them. And a backup location, in case your first gets shutdown. |
Era Roka 01.09.2012 | That lazer story is kinda weird, never heard of it. (i'm am not questioning you at al scamo) |

Chasidy Heckenbach 01.09.2012 | we'd always just move all valuable stuff and furniture into one room and either lock the door or just make sure no one could get in. less worry that way of stuff getting trashed we'd always buy plenty of beer so no one ran out - and not worry about trying to get any cash back. the tip jar idea or selling cups is cunning tho... everyone would bring their own stuff anyway tho so how'd it go? hope u had a good one |

Arla Seniw 31.08.2012 | Bass low, mids and highs just above or around head height if pos. Project the sound over the people not into a wall of them. Get the pictures up! |

Johnetta Olewine 31.08.2012 | My advice. Keep the great unwashed out of the house and have your party in the yard. Get bigger, proper PA speakers. |
