Music you're embarassed to like?
Posted on: 14.11.2009 by Verona Fashbaugh
Everybody has that music that they love, but would never admit to liking. I guess you could call it a "guilty pleasure"... but I hate that phrase. For some reason I picture a middle-aged mom secretly eating a box of chocolate in the closet. lol.

But anyway, I have a huge soft spot for cheese-ball eurodance music. If it weren't for euro, I may not have ever gotten into EDM.

I know I'm not the only one that loves music they know they shouldn't. Anyone else?

I don't like very much "pop" but this is just dancy enough for me. i am afraid to like it because everyone compares them to Justin Bieber and one direction, which have lots of hate in my little 14 year old niche.

I have an open mind when it comes to music. I can listen to any style.

What suprices most people I've talked to is that my favorite album of all times is Millenium by Backstreet boys. I'm not ashamed of it only no one would expect it.
not in the sense of shame, but at this time of age i wouldn't stand them...unless if the album is really good & it's part of my childhood.

and i still love Spice Girls :0 their Forever album was awesome

This is probably my top most embarrassing song at the moment, which I came across when I watched 'Camp Rock' - which without a doubt would be in 'films Im embarased to like'.... lol

Loving this thread! :P

Yes like I said, I'm not embarrassed about that stuff because it's genuinely good. Otherwise I would have posted it.

Flock of Seagulls and Numan?! OK FOS maybe... this is very 80's and corny but something about this track just does it for me. Maybe the guitar riff or the reverb-heavy snares...takes me back to happy times, fluorescent slap-jack wrist bands, summer camp, skateboards with fat neon wheels and the beach in SoCal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifsZJiqoF50

As for Numan...that guy is badass...to this day. He's reinvented himself quite gracefully too. So this video is majorly cheesy and his costume is ridiculous but the whole thing is just beautifully stylish to me in a way. The type of overly saturated fashion that comes back into style because of the ridiculous exaggerations then ends up looking just...cool.

I absolutely LOVE this track too!

Gees this is a hard one.... I thought about some corny 80's stuff, like Flock of Seagulls, Gary Newman, Dead or Alive, but I decided to give everything I thought about a listen before I'd post it and really, it's all good stuff, just not appreciated for quite some time in the 90's and early 00's...

Then I thought about some of the stuff I listen to that I don't seem to be able to get any of my friends to like... The Blood Brothers, Ghostland Observatory, that kind of stuff. But I'm not embarrassed by it, I love throwing it on every chance I get... I have a fetish for "bad" singers, what can I say...

So I thought back to my childhood... What was the worst band I ever liked? Even for a short period of time....

Well, I believe this is the conclusion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHyV9V-37zc

Yes, I am actually quite embarrased by admitting that I liked them for a little while as a kid. So there.
