There's just nothing to be constructive about. It's bad, which is very usual for a first attempt, and there's nothing more to say than 'keep practicing' - which is pretty obvious to begin with. No disrespect to beginners of course (I still am one, too), but this just doesn't make sense to me. Edit: I believe what I really mean is: there's a difference between being helpful towards beginners, and holding their hands. |
Latoria Kavulich 15.06.2011 | @ DJZEchevarria keep practising mate. These things take time @ The rest of you. Did you have the balls to post your first shocking attempts at mixing? Keep the comments constructive please. |

Alexandra Nerby 14.06.2011 | I just wanted to throw this out there. I would remove your pic on your soundcloud. I actually laughed so hard I spit out a piece of chicken I was eating for dinner. I'm going to leave the splatter mark on my computer screen to remember this moment. Oh wait, I need to clean that shit off asap! |

Pansy Shiveley 14.06.2011 | Dude, as exciting as it may be to you, keep stuff like this to yourself. It sounds bad, and you should be able to realize that yourself too. Ask for help if you need it, but just posting your first beatmatch and asking for advice makes absolutely no sense. As if advice is going to suddenly make you better? Just practice your ass off and post stuff you can be proud of - how simple it may be. |
Kiyoko Wellisch 14.06.2011 | Shouldn't this be in the mixes community ? |
Belen Wermes 14.06.2011 | i'll give it a 1/10 keep practicing. |
Tatum Ansaldo 14.06.2011 | OK so I finally managed to listen to that thing on soundcloud. The point is not to play 2 whole songs over the top of each other for their whole length, as 999 times out of a thousand that will sound like ass. It's for blending one song into the one that follows it. I take it you used sync, and if so that's not beatmatching. That's using sync. Nothing wrong with using sync, but it's not what people mean when they talk about beatmatching. |

Delila Vandommelen 14.06.2011 | Set your pitch range to 8% or less. Watch ellaskins's videos on beatmatching using only the pitch fader and learn. Do the same back and forth motion by dragging the fader with your mouse - hold SHIFT at the same time for a finer adjustment (at least that trick used to work from traktor 2.x to traktor 3.x and hopefully still valid in tpro/tpro 2). Map some keys on your keyboard to pitch bend each deck and to increase/decrease the tempo for each deck with the precision set as high as you can, for fine adjustment beyond what the back&forth pitch bending will allow using shift+mouse. Do this over and over and over and over. That's how I practiced from the traktor 2.5 days to late 07, when I was merely dreaming of getting some decks and didn't have any controllers. It translated pretty well to my first time with CD decks back then, was a bit tricky on vinyl at first (shitty pitch faders) but it's getting there now that I have my own TTs. |
Alexandra Nerby 14.06.2011 | Just keep practicing. Youtube on the subject of beatmatching is your friend. Ellaskins is a great help to many. He's fun, and very easy to understand. Also mixingguide.com, while he hasn't been active in a while, has helped many as well. |
Marva Lievsay 14.06.2011 | thank you guys for all your help. sorry im asking so many questions but im new and becoming a Dj and i dont want to sound bad haha |

Stephnie Godbole 14.06.2011 | I learned how to beatgrid..... beatmatch... PSHHH yeah I can do that. Did it on first try on CDJ800+1000 =.= it's a nobrainer. |
Matha Obray 13.06.2011 | lol i learned to beatmatch on traktor and i still do it. hell i dont even need job wheels to do it. |
Maisie Marras 13.06.2011 | i was supposed to use CDJs? fuck you . i love my baby. |
Karolis Petrauskas 13.06.2011 | Here's a cool tip to start learning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlB_OQ9bZbg |
Regine Hulme 13.06.2011 | This is not a beat match exercise and sounds awful. |
Alexandra Nerby 13.06.2011 | I know people here aren't trying to mean, but they are right. Do you see anyone else beatmatching using just their mouse and Traktor? The only real way to learn is some turntables or Cdjs. Sure, there are controller steps that could accomplish the same concept, but start from the basics first... |
Addie Engbrecht 13.06.2011 | Not hating on a newb but......you're using just a computer.......do you know what beatmatching is? The mix is strraight, you're levels are off a lil but I know it's just you messin around so no biggie....just dont believe you understand the concept |
