Drum and Bass Train round 2 (or 3 dunno) Posted on: 28.10.2011 by Joie Cantillon Hey all, I believe it's about time for another DnB mixtrain... I'm gonna say that 8 members at 20 minutes a piece is too long and so difficult to get completed, I'm gonna say we should go with 6 people at around 25 minutes or so, hit this post up if you are interested...I'd like to say we could have this done within 2 months with everyone getting a week or so to complete their mix. I'd hope we could get someone involved that has experience mastering mixes as I am clueless when it comes to those sort of things... | |
Lucrecia Diloreto 07.11.2011 | Breakage - Fighting Fire ft. Jess Mills (Loadstar Remix) hate using the word epic, but holy shit thats the only way to describe this track... getting that track now! =D |
Corrin Penney 07.11.2011 | Nice set man, some sweet tunes there and a great setup for some deeper stuff. I'll jump on the next slot asap. |
Charline Dunch 07.11.2011 | okay im done. uploading right now. this will take some time - provider is slow as hell today. here's what i dropped: ---illstep.com--- 49:50 till 1:11:50 Soundclash - All Night Long (Original Mix) 51:00 Calibre - Loves Too Tight To Mention (Original Mix) Loz Contreras - Sarajevo (Hosta Remix) Komatic - Make The Most Of Now (Technicolour Remix) Enei - Atlantis (Original Mix) Lenzman - Broken Dreams (Original Mix) Drumsound, Simon & Bassline Smith - Steal My Heart (Original Mix) Emalkay - The World ft. we should have someone fix gain level mistakes and do a little mastering over the final mix. someone keen on that?

Charline Dunch 07.11.2011 | downloaded it and all. i'll go at it. how much time do i have? youre positive on me replacing the file on there with a new full mix including the one thats right on there now, right? we should have someone fix gain level mistakes and do a little mastering over the final mix. someone keen on that?

Plus I'm pretty good.

Lucrecia Diloreto 08.11.2011 | UPDATE: Added the tracklist to the Mix Train V2 dropbox folder. Please add your tracklists with times when it is your turn. Thanks! Ok, we should have Dutty up next... still waiting for his email adress.... |
Marilee Drinnen 08.11.2011 | *Ahem* How does one participate in this? I got tunes for days. Plus I'm pretty good. |
Corrin Penney 07.11.2011 | Dutty, do you wanna go for a liquid mix after yoshi? It'd probably fit better into the flow as citizen and myself are heading for the heavy minimal / tech stuff. You'd probably find it a pain in the arse mixing out of that with any consistency. Also, we need a running tracklisting in the dropbox along side the mix. Just a text file is good enough. Your name, then your tracks. Save anyone repeating any tunes unintentionally. |

I was just believeing today i needed a new logo lol, with a much more serious tone. but with Yoshi in your name, its hard to be taken serious haha! |
Charline Dunch 06.11.2011 | im sorry, didnt realize my PM box was full. how does this work? i get the last persons mix and blend over from the last track? i'm finishing? that'd be great. smooth out with some liquid goodness PM box is empty now! ps. i am really digging your logo, bro. |
Lucrecia Diloreto 06.11.2011 | Duttylectric should be next, he never gave me his email for the Dropbox... EDIT: tried to PM him, but seems that his PM box is full... =\ |
Marguerite Salsedo 07.11.2011 | Yeah, having only one @320 and the rest @wav means you should still be fine. Just gonna warn on what I said to yoshi: I need to be added to the dropbox as late as possible. My dropbox is filling up and I need it for my music course... and the hip hop mix train (currently de-railed) is sitting in it lol. Oh and @Mike: I still have all of the first D&B train in .wav so if you want to find someone who's not Tekki to finish it or just go over there and make him do his part... >_> |
Joie Cantillon 06.11.2011 | sorry for the late reply, my dsl sucks and trying to upload the mix as a .wav was timing out...I believe the best choice would be for you to just record the mix and go on as a .wav from where you are at, all of my songs are beatport 320s so it shouldn't sound too bad.... |
Lucrecia Diloreto 06.11.2011 | i guess im just gonna re upload what i had... it will just speed everything up a bit more. so whoever is next, just mix into the dropbox file. |
Marguerite Salsedo 06.11.2011 | Well I'm the caboose but I already have a few ideas.... like I definitely know what I'm bringing this train back into the station (bad metaphor... oh well) with. |
Lucrecia Diloreto 05.11.2011 | maybe theres a miscommunication here, but i thought we were waiting on bigheadmikelove to re-record his part as a wav file (at the same sound levels as before), and then upload it to dropbox so that i can attatch my part back on that one so that then i can upload it to Dropbox for the next person... =\ Edit: i had done my part a week ago, it has been done. so either we can wait for bigheadmike, or i can just re-upload what i had uploaded before. |
Marilee Drinnen 05.11.2011 | Hey I'm game to submit a mix. |
Corrin Penney 05.11.2011 | We need the mixes in the drop box first I believe. Yoshi, how are you getting on with your mix? Also, has dutty replied in a PM for the dropbox? |
Joie Cantillon 04.11.2011 | dutty are you working on your mix still? Shameless bump |

Joie Cantillon 31.10.2011 | The wav keeps on timing out on the upload, will have to find another way to get it sorted out.... |
Lucrecia Diloreto 31.10.2011 | @bigheadmike, dont worry about rerecording @ higher level since i mixed into your current levels so its all good. Just send me your part again as a wav file. I need your email so i can add you to the dropbox sharing. |
Joie Cantillon 31.10.2011 | so should I go and re-record the whole mix with the volume slightly higher, or should I just upload my .wav of it (by the way, my dsl may time out on an upload of that size....dunno I'll go ahead and try if neccessarry otherwise, just upmix the current part to .wav... all of the mp3s in that mix were aquired via beatport @ 320kbps, so it should be ok at the moment, but yall know more about that than me for sure |

Lucrecia Diloreto 31.10.2011 | @Flash, I have dropbox, ill reinstall it now. Ill delete my soundcloud post. PMs sound good from now on (for passing the mix around). As far as WAV goes, I could export the file as Wav (but then Mike's part would have lost a bit of quality) and go from there, or wait for Mike to do his in Wav and send me that part and ill join the 2 parts back together as a full wav. if thats making any sense at all... If you'd rather do the mastering, then by all means go ahead., Im sure you have more experience than me so thats all good! |

What do you believe? Also, are you chaps bouncing the mix down the MP3 before uploading? If you are, I'd suggest leaving it as WAV format. The amount of times its recompressed will have a noticable effect on the first mix. I argued this point out with some guy on IMTC and after doing some research, it really does affect the sound quality. As far as mastering goes, I have experience and I'll offer my services if required. Yoshi's first dibs on the mastering though. |

Lucrecia Diloreto 30.10.2011 | @Bigheadmike, that'd be awesome. and i do believe we (the dnb heads) are better lol. I remember being a part of a Progressive Trance train a while back and noone seemed to get their shit together so i just quit it... Ive had the best luck here with the dnb guys. btw, Id really love to get a heavy/dark dnb train going soon too! |
Joie Cantillon 30.10.2011 | 3 days and 2 mixes complete, so is duttyelectric going next or is Flash going then Citizen and the Dutty to close the deal out... Also you know what would be the f'n note? If we could get this done by the end of next weekend...I believe it's a very real possibility (and we could spout off some sort of bs around the community about how DnB heads are far better ) ...but who am I kidding you guys are probably going to take the entire week and get every little tweak of the knobs sorted before you throw it down, which I guess I need to start teaching myself to do...I still just sit down and play some tunes.... But everyone should try to get this whole deal hammered out quick |
Lucrecia Diloreto 30.10.2011 | Alright, I did my part and uploading to Soundcloud now for whoever is next to download. I went ahead and used your first mix Bigheadmike, kinda fit the style i was going to mix much better. I did notice the volume levels were a bit low, so i just mixed at those levels as well and everyone else should just follow, we can fix that up after we have it all complete. try to get it as close as possible that way the mastering at the end isnt such a pain... Im a bit out of it right now so if you catch something i screwed up in or whatever just let me know and ill try and fix it. |
Joie Cantillon 30.10.2011 | http://soundcloud.com/mwt/djtt-dnb-train-v2-2nd-try So I took a few minutes (and still went 1 minute more than I should have ) too long on the last try, decided to somewhat change the style of the mix and go in a deeper liquid style building in energy.... anyway whatever Yoshi feels like going off is fine with me Tracklist Twisted Facts - Crystalline - Soul Deep MSDOS - Debacle - Liquid Drumz Naibu - Back Engineering - Avalanche Broken Eye - Feeling the Music - Respect Sobersoul - Spring Race - Respect Sardi - There For You - Liquid Brilliants Super Deejay Bobzilla - Heavy Duty Booty (Human Factor Remix) - Mutate Records I picked this up off chance that because the name of the producer and the name of the track were shit hot the tune must be good, turns out it was Makoto & Greg Packer - Found Your Love - Human Elements Foxrox - Can't Live Without You - Audio Danger Records Kinda screwed the mix up a bit here, it's what I get for not using sync Anyway lemme know what you all believe if the other one isn't too long (which it shouldn't be, I've got plenty of room on my soundcloud to host it) go ahead with the other one, if time is a premium I'd say use this one |
