The DJTT Show Your Setup Competition 2012
Posted on: 26.10.2012 by Tatum Ansaldo
It's that time again folks!

Nominate your favourite setup from the Show Your Setup sub-community
(not your own of course)

Nominations close on November 10th.

The mods will then choose the top few and start a poll. The winner will receive an exclusive community title and there may be other prizes on offer.

Mods and the winner from last year (armyofme) aren't eligible for nomination.

Do not vote in this thread, it's for nominations only! If your favourite setup has already been nominated, wait for the voting thread in a few days time.

This post is centred in honour of JonathanBlake.

Yeah that's exactly my thoughts on it. I love to look at pictures of people's epic set ups, especially when they're not my style. I believe the contest should probably be phrased as such though. The criteria should be explained as "who has the biggest DJ dick" or "most impressive setup", because that's more entertaining and less subjective than just asking everyone for their "favorite" setup. Then you're going to run not the same problems as the DJ mag top 100... You're just going to get a list of the most accessible, the most average. Or at least the one that the most people can picture using in their workflow... And that's kinda lame.

I believe it's simply about enjoying the calming glow of multicolor LEDs.

I know it was a joke was just curious but that is a pretty nice looking setup then. Similar to what I had for a while

It's about finding the most popular setup of course, just like any other poll.

For example, I believe Ryan's setup is absolutely gorgeous, but I don't use Traktor any more and I'm not a fan of rotary mixers. I believe Arkaei's setup is stunning but it's an entirely different workflow from mine. Hell, I believe xonetacular's modular synth looks fantastic but I wouldn't know where to start if I were standing in front of it.

But i do have to point out that the fact that DJ workflows vary so much makes the criteria for this seems kinda weird. For example, having an ableton-centric setup doesn't appeal to me, so it wouldn't get my vote, even if it was the best-built setup in the contest.

A three-track-deck one-remix deck Traktor controller setup, with a focus on cue point triggering and high-versatility, that's highly mobile and easy to set up at rave-scene events WOULD appeal to me, so it'd get my vote. It would get my vote even if it was just the right combination of CDJs/TTs/modular controllers and a four channel mixer/controller, and was less impressive than the ableton-centric setup.

So what does it mean that we're finding the superlative of? The set up that appeals most to workflow of the median DJ on these community s? That's pretty anti-climactic.....

I vote for fullenglishprint. It's really cozy and looks like a fun work environment:

Arkaei is lacking a Z2 :P and Ryan actual people in his loft. They are close though.
