Elnora Wisegarver 15.07.2010 | the axom pro is 399 and the akia is 259 |
Marilu Latzer 15.07.2010 | For some tutorials belonging to ableton i made so recommandations here: http://www.djranking s.com/community /showthread.php?t=15933 |
Toby Suttles 15.07.2010 | Get a comfy chair. And a nice set of monitors and/or headphones. You can make quality music on any DAW with any type of midi controller or hardware. It just requires lots and lots of hours and energy learning whatever you have hardware and software inside out. |
Ayanna Heffinger 15.07.2010 | well, the axiom25 is about $150 and the akai is about $250.. If your going with abelton definitely go with the axiom, its pretty much built for abelton. Have you looked into any other midi boards? I just suggest not spending too much and overkilling http://soundcloud.com/xxkubbyxx/kubby-believe |
Elnora Wisegarver 14.07.2010 | now its down to which keyboard Its between the m audio axiom pro 25 or the akia mpk25 |
Ayanna Heffinger 14.07.2010 | The axiom should be fine man. especially for starting.. I use logic Pro. LOVE IT )) .. As I always say, "If you got a mac, why not use Logic"?? Really, logic is amazing software. http://soundcloud.com/xxkubbyxx/nirvanic-trance-official |
Elnora Wisegarver 13.07.2010 | Well i been playing around with all the demos i can get my hands on. And so far the 2 I am liking is live 8 and fl .I like the tracks i can do in live 8 , and i love the way i can construct my beats in fl both are amazing . So I believe im going with both . and with the 25 key midi keyboard and mpd 24 for now . |
Verona Fashbaugh 12.07.2010 | The most important part of producing is the software you decide to use. It's more important than your controllers and any other hardware imo. I couldn't put together a decent track in Ableton if my life depended on it. I just like FL. Do yourself a favor and before you decide on a DAW, give FL a shot. I love it. Edit: And regarding the "which controller" debate, I'd say 25 keys might be more than enough depending on what you plan to do. Personally, I just use my keys to put together a melody line. I build all my chords and such manually, so I don't need a lot of keys. If you know your way around a keyboard, then yeah you might want something that's larger. (It's worth noting that, for the most part, if you are just writing a simple melody line (ie: riff), it is unlikely that any single part of it will spread over more than two octaves. And if it does, you can change the octave youre playing in at any time. Of course, if you are planning on using both your hands to play simultaneously, then please ignore everything I just said and buy a full-size controller ) |
Elnora Wisegarver 11.07.2010 | thanks all |
Breana Singerman 11.07.2010 | Are you trained in playing the keys at all? If not then I wouldn't worry about the size, 25 keys will do you just fine, and the MPD 24 will be perfect for your set up with Ableton. Once you start working with that and get a feel for the app you'll soon realize what else you'll need to add to your set up. Your set up will grow with you to fit your needs. On that note, you might want to invest in a decent monitor set up while you're at it, that will go a long way to help what you're doing. Cheers! |
Laurel Litchko 11.07.2010 | i would invest in a larger keyboard. i bought a 25 key one too and its pretty limiting (still havent upgraded). ableton is good, but i you should just try it for yourself to see if you like it. i love it! look into the akai keyboards, those have keys and drum pads built in. also start believeing about drum samples and getting a small library of good samples. find remix competitions and use the stems you find. eventually you'll learn new techniques even if you dont make the deadline/win any comps. =D |
