Making a post every hour about your show this Friday or a new track is only going to piss people off and scare them away. However, keep an eye on any pages you have. If people comment on them, make sure you respond. People won't get annoyed if they initiated contact to begin with. |

Carli Halsall 15.09.2010 | SoundCloud is one of the best ways to get your stuff heard, learn a lot and start interacting with labels. |

Emilee Woytovich 12.09.2010 | +1 for soundcloud. As has been said it's versatile and can be embedded in many places. Join soundcloud groups and send your tracks there and once you build up a good base of followers you can be sure your stuff will be listened to. |
Charolette Landicho 12.09.2010 | yea true. i defo like the second point with personal pages. tho i just keep my facebook pretty fan based only, making just another fan page seems bit odd for my taste but yea, probably would be a good idea |
Lawrence Sander 02.09.2010 | Quick blurb about promoting yourself using social media, I would suggest you have 2 presences: 1. Fan Pages - consider this your official page, this is where you promote your music, parties, etc. So that 'your fans' are kept up to date. 2. Personal Pages - lock this page down, I have mine visible, but that is not for everyone, especially if you find yourself getting into odd discussions/debates on facebook that you wouldn't want every fan to be prevy to... Here you would use this as your alter ego, make friends, network, meet new ppl and connect with old ones. You'll eventually get all these people to become fans of yours anyways if you do it right... but do not deliberately self promote on your personal page, use your fan page for that seems more official and it will make your presence more viable as a whole. Basically learn to seperate business from pleasure, most of us djs seem to have this issue... |
Lawrence Sander 02.09.2010 | hey guys just to give a few avenues that are yet undiscussed here...try these sources for quick pleasure and gratification. www.house-mixes.com - free to join (u can donate, not is not necessary) has tons of social media functions built in and a ranking system that I still can't seem to figure out. www.mix.dj - this is an internet radio station that features dj mixes, they also feature your mixes on their iphone app. (keep in mind here that they require you to list your entire track list including transition start times for each track, they tend to blast their own voiceover onto your tracks during those times randomly throughout your mix). www.soundcloud.com - this is one of my favorites, plays directly in facebook and other social media sites, has a drop box so others can send you their tracks and also has tons of social media features and access built in great for the budding dj/producer! |

Leeanna Ayla 01.09.2010 | This mostly applies to DJ's. but I believe a lot of the tips would be similar. http://www.djranking s.com/2010/08/0...tools-for-djs/ |
