producers, what audio card you use?
Posted on: 27.08.2010 by Nikki Mcpeek
so my Envy24 family audio (wdm) audio card sucks on that setting and sucks when i use ASIO4ALL. its probably because it cost less than 20 bucks and its the wrong audio card for producing.

what audio card you have and how much did it cost? and do you believe that card is perfect for producing?

I'm using fast track pro, used to be an avid guitar player, now it's pretty useful to produce!

Presonus Firepod and an Audio Kontrol 1 from Native Instruments. Depending on what and where I'm recording.

Yeah you just have 2 outputs on the card - one for your speakers and one for your cans.
The headphone socket uses its own hardware which is apparently a really good chip or something... Geeky stuff here

It seemed the best all round option for me cos I wanted it for gaming and stuff as well, I'd defintley recommend it.
what daw u use, what OS?

If you want it for producing, I really can recommend the Apogee Duet. Definitely the best sounding card I ever used (I used similar products from NI, TC Electronic, Echo). It really sounds amazing. The only thing is that you don't have a separate output for your headset, but for producing/live PA, you won't need that.

Probably not the cheapest, but once you have a good soundcard, you probably don;t need a new one until this one break (not going to happen). Remember that this card only works on OSX, so Mac/Hackintosh only...

If you're a Windows guy I can recommend RME interfaces. Super sound quality and very stable drivers, for Mac and Windows. They even have USB interfaces (BabyFace or FireFace UC) if your PC is not equipped with firewire.

very interesting, what type of headsets you use?

you said it has a seperate headphone amp, a bit confuse, do you plug it somewhere else besides the headphone jack? or is it only in that headphone jack, that is juiced up
