Rate this track I made Posted on: 25.11.2010 by Lizeth Jaya http://soundcloud.com/dr-violent/groove-machineBeen getting better at sampling/mastering. I used ableton to make it! I like it but it needs better bass and its a little repetitive. | |

As in, if I scan a song and look at the settings can I reapply that, learn it, and it would work? or is it only getting certain aspects of the EQ? |

Stephaine Hains 14.12.2010 | Hmm so is this isotope ozone basically the same as the Match EQ in logic? |

Isaac Anklam 13.12.2010 | I personally use Izotope Ozone for mastering quickly. It is really cool and I would suggest looking into it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMFq0c0Tu1I |
Lizeth Jaya 10.12.2010 | Thanks I just got my vci-100 and an audio 2 DJ so maybe I should mess with this song a little. It's too long... I'll probably change it drastically. Also does anyone know of any good tutorials or websites that talk in depth about Mastering,Compression,EQs? edit: Actually just bought a book off amazon about "understanding audio" and the table of contents pretty much fit what I need to learn. Hopefully I make sicker tracks after i read this thing. |
Pasquale Mccallson 10.12.2010 | I like it overall. In the beginning I was believeing it sounded very amateur but then as you built in all the other parts it came together. Interesting sound. |
Isaac Anklam 08.12.2010 | It's got kind of a syncopated feel to it... Feels kinda Squarepusher ish to me (not a bad thing at all). If you haven't heard him before then check out... Like his track "Red Hot Car": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKi4aeMnWrU Check that track out for some inspiration and I believe it can help get you to where you want to be with this track. My quick 2 cents: I believe the track has a lot of potential to it. Seems a bit rough around the edges and needs some extra oomph to certain parts. Intro - Kinda weak... WAY better at 0:15. The sampling chops aren't bad at all. That has a great melody to it. Seems a bit off beat (even for syncopation) at times around 0:27 to 0:45 is pretty solid. After that, the break comes a little too soon and looses a lot of momentum. Seems like effects are added just to be there and don't benefit the song... It kicks back in harder which is good. You need something to take it just a step higher. 2:10 has my same gripe as the other break at 0:45... I do like the build up however it just seems disconnected. 2:48 is a pointless. I would swap that out with something else or ditch it. The end is kind of choppy and ends too soon, maybe lengthen that out a couple bars. |
