Best program/s for Drum 'n Bass production?
Best program/s for Drum 'n Bass production? Posted on: 23.11.2010 by Shelia Salzsieder I'm a DnB/Trance DJ but want to start producing some DnB, I haven't done anything like this before (apart from Ejay back in the day ) and was wondering what programs I could use and if anyone has any tips or websites that would be useful. Thanks! | |
Ashirumatic DJ 30.11.2010 | To learn how to slice up drum loops, take a look at these videos. Specifically you will wanna watch the one(s) on the Edison, Fruity Slicer, and SlicerX.

While I can't recommend any specific sites for tutorials, if you are still stumped for creating your own drum loops, open the "Club Basic" template and put in a pattern like this one: From there, just start experimenting with hi hats. It takes a lot of time to get that sound in your head. Trust me though. You'll get there.

Carman Grantham 08.02.2011 | drum n bass artists |
Ashirumatic DJ 30.11.2010 | All the Vengence sample packs are great. Especially the Kicks in the Electro House Sample Packs. As well I would pick up XFER. There are tons out there to find. |
Shelia Salzsieder 30.11.2010 | Thanks, I'll watch those videos. Any sample packs you can recommend? |

Shelia Salzsieder 30.11.2010 | So you mean basically just get the hits and make my own loops? That's what they told me not to do... |
Diana Bakkila 30.11.2010 | Hey Dj there are loads of software ways to do this. Some better than other depending on what your after. Logic and protools have easy ways of strippin away silences or choppin up individual beat to leave the single hits behind. These are expensive tho. I like the free way use audacity to select the part of the audio file you need and export it. Hope this helps what your after. I would love a free program that strips breaks up into individual hits but I dont no of any out there. Wavelab does it but its not free or easy to use! |
Shelia Salzsieder 30.11.2010 | How do I slice up drum loops? Also, do you have any loop packs you can recommend? Thanks |

I guess I could make some good loops if I get some good drum hit samples. deviantdigi, I have looked on google, haven't found anything good about making DnB... |

Shelia Salzsieder 27.11.2010 | I'm also getting clipping when playing samples in the browser, why is this?! and the volume also fluctuates for no reason, goes really loud then quiet again if I keep on playing something. |

Shelia Salzsieder 27.11.2010 | Thanks but I want advice on how to start, look at my previous post. |
Franklin Momany 28.11.2010 | Here's another virtual MPC if your into controllerism. Its from SoniVox and is called the Pulse. A bit expensive but looks like it gets the job done. Cheers! -Digi http://www.sonivoxmi.com/ProductDetail.asp?Item=CDPulse |
Shelia Salzsieder 27.11.2010 | I need more advice please, I have now got some samples, but shouldn't I be creating my own drum/bass/synth loops? for example, in a sample pack I have, there are some good basslines but only 1 section if you understand what I mean, the 'next bit' of the bass loop isn't there. What virtual instruments should I use? I know Native Instruments have a few good ones but for drum n bass which ones are good? thanks |
Brunilda Kora 24.11.2010 | Check youtube for tutorials on creating bass sounds on pretty much any soft synth. Programming beats for D n' B is a different story... Know your breaks. |

Shelia Salzsieder 23.11.2010 | I've got fruity loops, do you know any websites that have tutorials or any good plugins to use? thanks |
Dreama Brehon 23.11.2010 | it depends on how much money you want to spend. Fruity Loops, Reason, Cubase, Logic. They're all good. But it's what plug-ins you use with them that dictates better sounds and FX. |
Shelia Salzsieder 23.11.2010 | Anybody? |
