ableton: drum rack or alternative?

What are you ableton guys using to program your beats?

Right now, I'm using drum racks but I really curious about maschine and other vst's.

you can send each sample to an individual audio track and place the effects there. Just create an audio track, choose "monitor -> in" instead of "auto", then "audio from -> impulse" instead of "all ins" and below that you can choose the sample you want to send.

now you can drop an effect on the audio track to make only the chosen sample go through it..

14.02.2011		I use one instance of impulse for each individual sample. I like it this way because i can adjust the the decay time and tweak the sounds to "glue" together better after i have most of the idea down. My ableton template tho has several instances of blank impulse' so i don't waste time repeatedly loading the same thing.

13.02.2011		I know how flexible drum rack is, but it takes me a while to put together a kit and to modify each of the sounds.

I'm particularly interested in products to speed up my workflow.

13.02.2011		I use drum rack. I actually really like it more every time I use it. The fact that you can pretty much drop anything (sample, synth, etc... even another drum rack) into it still blows me away.

The only other DAW I've ever used consistently was FL Studio, so coming from that I was super excited about the way Drum Rack is set up.

Then again, I've never used anything but those two, so I suppose Drum Rack could actually be a piece of trash and I would never know the difference.

What are you trying to do that Drum Rack can't do?
