i was trying to go for a more compressed electronic distorted sounds but i can't seem to tweak operator in ableton or anything else. i was going for a kill the noise kind of sound but i cant seem to figure it out any input? not specifically the vocals, but the main synth sound of the song below?

You could do this operator without much trouble. Use the default routing (4 vertical squares), and load a saw into osc A. I'd suggest no more than 4 harmonics. Then for B, load up a saw 16 or 32, set it 8-12 octaves above A, and turn the output way down until your ears stop bleeding. For osc C, load a sine or triangle and set the coarse tuning to 0.5, output at around minus 5-10 db. You could use D as well, but you shouldn't need to at this point. Now fiddle with the output values of the oscillators. Increasing B will result in more high frequency harmonics, while increasing C will give it more gritty low end. Once you're happy with the sound, find the tone control for the whole thing and sweep through it to see if you find something you like better.

Massive is nice, but if you want real nasty bass sounds, FM synthesis is the way to go.

Yea, I have tried using a number of things including distortion. I'm not sure maybe I need to try a new plug in? like Massive or something?

Have you tried using distortion?

Well I've never programmed a synth physically, like on an analog synth, but I've produced sounds out of operator I've liked before, but I cant currently find how to tweak it to produce a better sound im looking for, sort of my own sound. Also I tried using the synths in Kore Player as a plug in, and still can't find a good sound.

what is your background on synth programming? do you even know how to program one?
