Latency With Ableton
Posted on: 20.03.2011 by Andree Ganas
EDIT: Self Solved by reinstalling program

I am not sure what I did, but this morning when using Live with my midi keyboard there was a four to five second delay between playing a note and the note sounding. This has never happened before. I went to tweak the latency settings and it didn't help. Also, according to two different latency monitoring programs, there doesn't appear to be any dropouts (but I am not sure if this detects USB-midi information).

What I did between it working and today:

1) Akai LPD8. Could the controller's software be affecting Live? I uploaded a User Remote Script, but ended up erasing it and just used the default Live mapping. It ended up conflicting with my Yamaha EZ-200 keyboard, so I unplugged it (the LPD8).

2). I installed some VST plugins that came bundled with an old sound card. One of the plugins crashed my computer, so I got rid of all of them all

I have a PC that is plenty fast, strong and big. I have two soundcards: 1) ESI Juli@ PCI and my Traktor S4. They have never conflicted before, but that could be an issue. I also have an A8 soundcard, but I am not using it.

I tried selecting both MME and ASIO, respectively but neither helped.

I installed ASIO4all just to see if that would make a difference, but it did not.

Also, I am using an E-MU Xmidi 1x1 adapter for my keyboard. I updated the drivers just in case.

Any suggestions
