fl studio academic registration....

okay so this isnt the best community to ask this question, but i cant make an account for the image-line community because i didnt by fl studio yet, and i cant even search the community for answers. here goes.

I looked up the academic version of FL studio 9 signature bundle at B&H. and its a good price. I am believeing of getting it. I called B&H, and they said they dont actually check if you are a student before selling it to you, the rep. said that you have to verify student status when you register the product usually.

now im confused. it doesnt tell me anywhere on the image-line website how i go about registering my FL studio and what information is required to verify that i am a student. how does this work?
anyone done this before?

I looked more into it and all I would need to do is buy lifetime upgrades feature for $39

i could be wrong, but academic versions of software cant be updated and fl studio gives you lifetime free updates.. seems like it would just be best to get the retail version

anyone know if this is right?

i know that doesnt answer your question, but something to believe about :s
