Opinions on FL Studio 10?
Posted on: 01.04.2011 by Laurette Mosinski
I've been djing parties with my friend for several months and this summer when we have more time we want to produce. We have been using a demo of FL studio the last few days because couple of our favorite djs use it so we gave it a try. So far i liked it there's just a lot I need to learn just like with any program. Before i buy it (it is really cheap comparing to other DAW which is good), i wanna make sure I'm investing time/money into a program I'm not going to switch from in a while.
Djs out there use all kinds of programs , LP, live8, protools, reason..

I used FL for about a year a few years ago. It was easy to use. BUT, my main gripes are that it looks and feels like it's designed for kids (yes, I know they're vocal samples cos it says "vocals", I don;t need animated big red lips there!).

Secondly, I always felt the sound quality on FL's output was quite poor (my system was set up fine and was no fault of my system).

I'm now using the Ableton and Reason rewired into it combo and it murders FL. I'm basing this on about FL6, so it may have changed since. However, Ableton and Reason for me from now on, I'm a fully fledged and converted Propellerhead/Ableton whore now!

As far as I reconized FL 10 uses has new featured cubase and other DAWS alread got. But I like the work flow of FL Studio... it depends on what ure doing. if you want to record you better use other DAWs, but if you want to make House/Hardsytle and maybe Dubstep and DnB it's pretty good for start.

If you got questions about producing with FL Studio check out some of my tutorials :P

I'm still working with FL Studio 8.2, its the best version imho.
When you start producing you have to remind that there is no DAW that is "the hit-machine". It's more about your workflow, your constant work, your knowing about music theory and getting a good sound from your vsts. Picasso draw such famous pictures not because of his expensiv-pro brush, but of his talent as an artist. You have to remind that the DAW is just a tool, it can help you, but you have to work!
Just try out some DAWs and take the best for yourself

I've been working with Fl-studio since 7.0 an I really like it. I believe its one of the better DAWs out there, its just the workflow is different from live and logic, etc. Otherwise, it works perfect and It shows because Porter Robinson used it to make "Say My Name" and Deadmau5 (quiet down trolls) produced his earlier tracks on it. I would highly recommend it.
