Akai MPK25 or MPK49? - Dubstep Production Posted on: 11.04.2011 by Hunter Gugler Hey all,I'm about to invest some money into a midi controller and I have my eyes set on either the Akai MPK25 or the 49. I've been producing a little bit of music using FL studio, but I wanted to start using ableton 8 on my macbook pro. I'm looking to make dubstep/reggae/ragga and need a good midi keyboard/controller to do that with. I'm leaning more towards the MPK25 because it's cheaper, has better reviews, and has more knobs (I doubt I would use the faders on the MPK49). I would like more keys, but I believe I could do without them. So, what's a better choice? Or if you have any other suggestions, throw them at me! Any feedback is appreciated Leo Daddy's Money | |

| Vernon Vanderberg 12.04.2011 | I have an MPK25 and absolutely love it. so much so iv'e even brought it to gigs. I will say this however, For production purposes i had to add an APC 20 to compensate for the lack of faders...and to free up the knobs on the MPK 25 for vst or effect rack manipulation.. as opposed the the MPK 49 that has faders I believe if drum pads are you thing then I highly recommend you do a sensitivity hack on the pads of the MPK..making this already superb controller even more playable. http://www.mpcstuff.com/akai-mpc-500...kit-co500.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mI4S...8A318DF46846E1 ^^^i dont recommend using tape however after pad upgrade this controller is leaps and bounds above any other midi keyboards and for reference I own an M-audio axiom 25 and briefly owned but hastily returned the Novation 25 sl also worth checking ebay or CL for second hand controllers. Got the MPK 25 for $98 wooot! |
