You have a nice little swing and groove going on at the start, but then around the 1:30 mark you have come conga hits come in that don't compliment the swing at all, clashing too much in my opinion. I would either ditch it or come up with a different pattern to work with the swing and groove you already established.

And second, your mix down could use a lot of help. A good practice to get into when starting a mix down after you've EQed everything and cleaned up any frequency issues, is to set your kick at -12 db and then bring the bass up until you see the master reading between -10db and -9db. After you have those established just start mixing all the other parts around those two and you should have a pretty solid mix with decent head room for mastering.

Cheers mate and thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the tips! This bootleg is quite old now and I have not revisited it yet since this mix was finished and I have learned alot since.

Firstly I'm going to have to disagree on conga percussion. I personally like it alot but I do understand your point and will attempt some changes in the pattern to see if something with more swing works better.

Thanks also for the mixing tips, its currently not far off a pre-master as is but your advice will come in handy when I revisit the track again.
